I am not really into entering cars into Car shows, have entered 2 cars on 2 separate occasions at Pebble Beach and did take a 1st Place in my class one time.
However with very little time and money, think this Corvette could achieve a Bloomington Gold Certification,or anNCRS Top Flight award,or possiblythe coveted Triple Crown designation.
These manuals and instructions will be included with the purchase of this 68 Corvette.
1968 Corvette owner's manual and clear plastic pouch, 968 Corvette assembly manual, nstruction card on how to over-ride the windshield wipers and wiper doors and the headlamp over-ride control.
Jacking instructions and posi-traction warningwith instructions.
"Corvette '68... all different all over". That's the quote from the sales brochure for the redesigned 1968 Corvette. The body was completely redesigned with the coupe losing it's fastback window but gaining a removable back window and removable t-tops for that almost convertible feel.
The chassis itself did not change much from the 1967 model. The new hidden wipers and hidden headlights are vacuum operated instead of electrical. Door openers now use a push button to open and a push in handle to pull the door, his was only used on the 1968 model.
The new auxilliary top for the convertible has a glass rear window. The new standard automatic was the 3-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic instead of the 2-speed PowerGlide used previously. A new fiber-optic monitoring system was added to the dash and "Astro-Ventilation" was added to improve the airflow in the cabin.
The '68 Vette did not have the "Sting Ray" badging on it anywhere, t would return in '69 as "Stingray". 1968 was also the year that Zora Arkus-Duntov was named Chief Engineer of the Corvette.
The XP-755 concept car, lso known as the Mako Shark, as designed by Larry Shinoda under the direction of General Motors Styling and Design head Bill Mitchel in 1961, s a concept for future Chevrolet Corvette production cars.
A great deal of the Mako Shark Corvette can be seen in the design oftheall new 1968Corvette.
I was privileged to know both Bill and Larry on a personal basis. Both were instrumental in keeping GM a world leader in auto production for many, any years.

There is a huge difference when you see a car described as "Correct Engine" or "Correct DateCoded Engine" than when you read a car described as "This is the engine that was in this carwhen it left the factory" This is as good as it gets!
Mileage: 39,653 The mileage on this car is ACTUAL and the title is a notarized Ohio title thatstates"ACTUAL MILEAGE" on the notarized title. The winning bidder will also receive an Actual mileageodometer affidavit.
Your probably wondering, How is it possible for a Corvette to be almost 48 years old and onlyhave 39,653 miles?" .....That translates into an average of 826 miles a year!
This car has had just two private owners and for the past 17 years it has been kept in a Car Capsuleinflated clear bubble cocoon. The air inside the bubble is constantly being exchanged thanks to a small air pump that runs 24/7, 65 days a year. (No Humidity & dust & dirt free)
It was painted just one time nearly 20 years ago with single stage paint and several coats of clearand the paint still looks fabulous. It was painted the original factory color, ordovan Maroon.
There are 2 small areas on the hood that have been touched up. If this car meets the low reserve price,I will have the entire hood repainted and perfectly color matched. Our painter has 50+ years ofexperience and is a real professional and master painter.
We could not find anywhere where the body has ever been repaired on this car nor could wefind anypatches in the fiberglass. I checked insidethe 4wheel wells and no evidence of any repair work.
The Chrome is stunning on this car!
The vinyl covered hardtop is the ORIGINAL factory hardtop that came with this car in Excellent condition.
The Black soft top is the Original one and it does NOT need to be replaced. (no cuts or tears)It is in incredible condition, he back window is still clear, he top frame is excellent as are all thechromed top hold downs.
Look carefully how nice and original the engine bay is...really AMAZING.
There are TWO things that you can NOT buy in a vintage car!
They are low original documented mileage and ORIGINALTY.
THIS CAR HAS BOTH!
It still has it's original factory SMOG pump with all it's attachments. If you want to use it, ustputthe smallbelt back on the pulley and your in business.
The hideaway headlights and hideaway windshield wipers work correctly on vacuum producedwhen the engine is running. Check out the short video.
I forgot to take a video of the hideaway headlights but they work correctly.
The engine starts up easily the first time....every time. It does not smoke, eak, rip or run hot,
The transmission shifts perfect withNO grinding noises...all the synchros are excellent as isthe clutch.
The emergency brake works perfect and when the emergency brake is set, he red warninglights comes on to remind you the brake is set.
The linkage, hifter, hifter bootand ball look "as New" and are original as is the center console.
The black dash is original, antastic condition and is not faded.
The brakes were all redone and work terrific...when you apply the brakes hard with your hands offthe steering wheel the car does not pull to the right or the left.
The original carpeting and the carpeted area behind the seatsis beautiful.
The 3 storage compartments behind the seat look like they have not been used...the one directlybehind the Driver's seat holds the battery....cables are mint and there is a small battery shut-off knob.
The gauges are original, ery clear and all the gauges work correctly.
The cigarette lighter works and the ash tray looks like it has not been used.
All 4 headlights are the original T-3 headlights that came in this car.
All 4 taillight lenses are stamped 1962 and are original to this car.
The Front two parking light lenses are stamped 1962 and are original to this car.
The clock works but has a tendency to run slow. If you want any old clock to keep accurate time, just remove the clock and send it to one of the guys who advertise in Hemmings every month.Send them your clock & $100 and you'll receive your clock back with a modern quartz movementinside...but your clock will look the same on the outside.
You can do the same with this original AM/FM radio. Send it in to one of the vintage audio shops and you'll get your radio back with a Modern Stereo great sounding system inside but your radio youstill appear to be original in appearance.
The power windows work to perfection and all the glass appears to be all original.
The exhaust system was replaced when the car was repainted the one and only time. The tailpipes, ufflers and resonators were all replaced.
The floorboard & rear panels are all original.
The undercarriage is not rusted and is original.
If it sounds like we love this car...your correct and so will anyone who loves and appreciatesjust how special it is to own an original and actual low mileage all matching numbers Corvette.
If I didn't already have 2 1968 Vettes in my personal collection, here is no way I wouldever offer this car for sale. One of my 68's is a Black 2/top 427/435hp 4/speed Corvette Convertible.Yes, t's worth more $ than this car but for drive ability, his car hands down is a lot morepleasurable to drive.
The problem with the big block, igh horsepower Corvettes is that the 427 or 454 enginesput out so much heat that after 20 minutes you feel like your driving in a Sauna. Also, heextra 400 pounds of weight over the front wheels results in a Corvette that doesn't handleas well as the small block cars.

I asked Jerry while staying at his house in September of 1989, why do you now have over 1000 collectable cars?"He replied with a slight grin and replied "Should I buy more?" We made a 10 car deal involving V-12 Ferrarison a breakfast napkin at the Dobbs House restaurant in the Houston Hobby Airport just before I boarded my flight back to Miami, lorida...and that was Jerry J...having fun and wheelin & dealin 24/7...anywhere and anytime!Iconsidered my self veryprivileged to be close friends with the late Jerry J. Moore fromHouston,Texas. Jerry was a Real Estate Mogul and one of the largest owners of shopping centers in the world.I really miss my pal and think of him often.Jerry was also an avid car collector and amassed one of the largest and best vintage car collections on the Planet. If Jerry told me once....he probably told me over 100 times......"In case you forgot...remember..."You will never see a Brinks truck at a funeral service or a Hearse with a luggage rack at a cemetery!"He believed that at best, ife is uncertain and thatone should enjoy desert 1st.Car collecting is a family thing...everyone around the world admires and loves these great vintage and collectible cars.We have sold cars fromAustraliatoAlaska...FromChinatoSaudi Arabia.....FromManhattantoMoscow....and the hobby keeps growing & expanding all the time.Collector car insurance is dirt cheap...about $250-$300 a year for a quality collectible like this. and you can buy full coverage! They usually require a garage and not more than 2500-3000miles a year put on the car.I recommend you only buy a car like this if you have a garage to keep it in.I always try and look for major flaws and mention them and try to point them out when I see something. If you call me I will go over the car with you in great detail...both inside and out. The couple of tiny flaws are too miniscule to show up in photos...but I'll be happy to point them out.Your welcome to come in person to inspect this car for yourself...hire anyone you like to come on your behalf....bring your Experts and magnifying glasses........see if you can find anything really negative worth mentioning...we tried and couldn't find anything other than what we stated in the description...maybe you can?We have tried diligently to find any MAJOR flaws in the paint, ody, nterior, echanical or electrical systems and have not been able to locate anything that we could list as a MAJOR problem in the description or that we haven't already mentioned.
I truly believe there is NO such thing as a "PERFECT" old car or even a late model car that has been driven, E ARE NOT making such a claim.....but this car comes close to perfection...ESPECIALLY when you consider it is almost 50 Years Old !
We are urging you toPLEASEcome and inspect the car in person, rive it or to hire an expert inspector to do this for you. AGAIN....Please do not ask us to recommend anyone....we want you to select & hire your own inspector.
