Chevrolet Chevelle 1971 Description

Up for sale is thisbeautiful1971 Chevelle project. A friend of mine, ho knows I rebuild Chevelles, turned me onto thisvery nice and complete car. I already had two projects, ut could not pass up this car. I bought it fromthe original owner, ho orderedit while stationed in Korea. He picked it up in Colorado when he returned to the states (original build sheet is included in attached pictures). He drove it as a family car for years. It was a 350 2barrel/TH350/10 bolt, ower steeringcar. In the late 80's, he original engine was rebuilt with an RV cam, luminum intake, olley 600 4 barrel carb, nd headers. He told me the drivetrain is original except the intake, arb, nd headers. In 1994, e took it to a buddy'sgarage to have some rust repair and new paint done. His buddy welded in a new trunk pan, atched the inner wheel tubs, and cut both rear quarters for patch panels. Health issues stopped the project and it remained in that garage unfinisheduntil June of 2013, hen I purchased it.

I have finished the bodywork and had it painted the original color and reassembled with the appropriate new trim. I have also reassembled most of the interior with some new parts and gotten the car running and driving. Details are below.

I still have my other projects and now havechildrenin college. It is time for someone to finish this project and make into a SS clone, eavy Chevy clone,or nicely restored Chevelle!

Details:

Rather than use the rear patch panels, y body man recommended we replace the entire right and left rear quarter panels for a better finished product, o I purchased those and a new steel cowl hood, lew the car apart, nd got it to his body shop. There was no rust in the front fenders or rocker panels, o most of this car is original steel. Iinstalled a new driver side upper door hinge and striker to correct some door sag. The car was stripped, ew rear panels were installed, ody work done, and it was painted with a modern basecoat/clearcoat system. It was wet sanded and buffed to its' current shine. All door jambs and the underside of the hood were painted to mimic factory paint.I reassembled the body with new bumpers and brackets, new grill, nd new passenger inner fender and battery tray (damaged from years of battery acid).

The new trunk that was installed in the 90's was installed on top of the original trunk pan. It was welded in, o I cleaned up, ealed, nd undercoated the bottom of the original trunk panto keep moisture out. I flushed and reinstalled the fuel tank with a new sending unit and fuel lines. I drained all engine fluids, ulled the valve covers, ntake, nd water pump. The engine was very clean inside. I installed a new Performer RPM intake, ewHolley 650 carb, ew valve covers, nd a new water pump. I replaced the distributor with a new HEI and added new wires and spark plugs as well as new header gaskets, new starter, elts, nd hoses. I primed the oil pump with new high-zinc oil and it cranked and ran right away.

I installed all new weatherstipping on the doors, indows, oor jambs and trunk. I then had a new windshield installed along with the original trim. I had the original rear glass re-installed with new trim. I then installed new sound deadener, nsulation, nd factory carpet. I bought and installed a new dash pad, teering wheel assembly, and rear package tray with insulation. I cleaned up the factory seats, oor panels, nd A pillars and reinstalled them.*The car comes witha new headliner with sail panels as well as new replacement door and rearpanels from Original Parts Group. *These are not installed, ut still in the box. The wheels are 17x7 American Racing wheels. The tires have about 1000 miles on them from their use a previous car.

The car has original manual drum brakes. They are functional, ut weak. The transmission shifts, ut is sluggish. It needs a rebuild or at least new seals. The tranny and engine leak from many years in storage. The air conditioningsystem iscomplete and the compressor turns freely, ut it does not blow cold. Owner said it worked when parked in 1994. It needs windshield wipers installed. It needs new exhaust from the headers back. The current dual exhaust is rusty and was cut off at the rear axle to do the bodywork.

I drove the car about 10 miles from my shop to my house. All lights and signals work, ut it needs work to be areliable driver.

I have a rebuildable12 bolt, on-posi rear end that will fitthe car. I will include the12 boltrear end with the car if the buy-it-now price is paid. This car is not perfect, ut is very solid and complete. there are some minor chips in the paint from re-assembly that need touched up, ut it is beautiful overall. I have over $14K invested, ot including my labor. I have pictures that documentrestoration and have all receipts. I will send these with the car. Please bid to win!

This car has no warranties and is sold as-is, here-is. Buyer is responsible for shipping. This car is also for sale locally, o I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
