Chevrolet Nomad 1955 Description
1955 nomad with less than 40 k original miles.. It still has its spiral shocks, riveted ball joints and has not left its storage building since 1967! A 48 year continuous storage... It has documentation to verify its miles and ownership since the early 60's,possibly the original owner, nbsp; I have his name and address...The car was purchased from the first owner in august of '66 and in may of 67, new ford was on a test drive and hit the nomad in the drivers quarter...It was taken to a body shop and the repair bill estimate was 300.00... The insurance company totaled the car!.. The owner was so upset they totaled his nomad,he put it in his garage and it didn't move an inch for 47 years... He refused to sell it to anyone even though many people tried to get it through the years... The owner eventually died and his widow wanted to move in late 2015,..The nomad finally had to go... The car rolls but the brake pedal cannot be pushed down due to a frozen master cylinder and wheel cylinders... There is NO mice damage to the car due to the owners cats. The 265 runs excellent, nbsp;it hits evenly on all 8 cylinders, as no leaks,no smoke, mooth idle, nd even quiet lifters... The same goes for the transmission, ighting and charging system... The owner changed the front end in 66 and smartly tucked away the eyebrows and side moldings in a safe place...None of the front mouldings are broken or cracked and the front end he put on is extremely straight with only a little rust over the headlights... The car came new as shown with the bumper guards, rille guard, acuum washers, lectric wipers, stainless rocker moldings, ender gravel guards, oor scratch shields and a wonderbar radio...[Nice rocker mouldings are rolled up in newspaper in the last hood picture]...It is a rarer color combination, arvest gold / india ivory with E-Z-Eye glass... The undisturbed data plate says; style-1064DF, ody # 6248, nbsp;trim-541, aint-631, cc-EZI... The cars title is clean,,,[no salvage title] with its original undisturbed VIN plate... VIN# VC55J171007... Having being stored inside, ll the glass is excellent with the exception of one small circular stone chip in center of the windshield...The driver quarter is beyond repair but just the quarter panel was hurt...The gas door was untouched in the accident as well as the fill neck......Weirdly there is enough rust damage to the quarter panel to have forced a quarter change anyway, he passenger quarter panels only damage is the visual rust in front of the wheel, therwise just sand and paint, o other damage... The roof, oof pillars, nd the all stainless are all excellent... The doors are rust free, ust a few usual small dings, o rust repair needed at all...they both open and close as they should as well as the tail and lift gate... The original key works all the locks easily ...The car starts, uns, nd moves forward and bac, ust NO brakes... Some extra parts come with it to help with the restoration...A nice 55 wagon gas tank, nice set of tailgate cables and retractors, xtra hubcaps and a few other small parts...The frame is bad enough it should be replaced with the restoration along with the inner and outer rockers or better yet a new floor pan. This is a rarer color combination, ocumented, ery low mileage 55 Nomad with an interesting history! We have pictures of it in its near 50 year hibernation... questions? call David @ 608 438 7269...THANKS!
