Chevrolet Chevelle 1971 Description

Some people think that a history lesson on an old car has no value. I wholeheartedly disagree. Almost every member of my collection has a good story connected to it. I have just as much appreciation for the present as I do the past. I like knowing where they've been, ho has owned them and what kind of life they have had. My knowledge of this Chevelle goes all the way back to 1971. Purchased new at Lyman Slack Chevrolet right here is Portland Oregon. In fact, hat dealership was located only 2 miles from my office where I'm typing this info now. I have the original window sticker and both license plates are the only ones the car has ever had. Two owners since new before I added it to my collection. The 99,000 mileage reading is accurate. Assembled at the Van Nuys California plant and has resided here in Portland every day of her life. The car is in outstanding condition in every way. Body, aint, nterior and mechanical condition are all excellent. The trunk and undersides are amazing and rock-sold, ust like the rest of the car.

The only negative detail to share is regarding a minor fender bender that occurred on a residential street decades ago. This is the benefit of having so much knowledge and history of the car. In the early 1980's, he right front fender was damaged. ONLY the right front fender. The door, ood and front bumper were untouched. Damage estimate came to around $600. At that time the insurance company valued the car at just over $1100. Therefore, y definition, he car was considered a total loss. The owners accepted the settlement and had the fender replaced with an original and repainted. That's it. However, he "branding" remains noted on the title as totaled/reconstructed. A label the car should not have and certainly does not deserve today. I am a lifetime lover and 25+ year collector of primarily General Motors products from the 60's and 70's. I have been all over this car during my ownership. There is no evidence of previous accident damage.

One complete repaint was performed 9 years ago. The factory color of Sunflower Yellow was unique but the current finish is slightly brighter. The paint is nice and applied very well. It holds a high shine and gloss. At my time of purchase I had the exterior fine wet-sanded and polished. The results were impressive. Minor imperfections can be found with your nose inches away but the body and paint are worthy of being called beautiful. All panels line up nicely and the car is extremely straight. Both doors open and close easily. Bumpers, hrome, tainless moldings, mblems and all trim is gorgeous. The vinyl top is also excellent. All glass is crystal clear. The interior is amazing and almost entirely original. Only the carpet and front seat have been redone, o factory specs of course. The numbers matching drive-train is nothing short of impressive. This car shows exceptionally well in every way and more than deserves the countless compliments it receives every time I take her out of the garage.

I will make a few brief comments under certain pictures throughout the photo display. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my Chevelle in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the car clearly and accurately from as many angles as I could think of. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My telephone number is503-887-1231and calls between 8AM and 10PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 5 days and is scheduled to end on Tuesday evening, he 11th of August at 7:30PM Pacific.

I'm looking for a sincere buyer. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and my Chevelle becomes no longer available.

*If you are outside of the U.S. or Canada, LEASE contact me to confirm your bidding activity as genuine.*Everyone, lease be sure to read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way.
NO RESERVE AUCTIONI did not set a reserve price on my Chevelle. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see in my driveway at home the day before this auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my car and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time, AVE

With the exception of the very first photo, ach picture was taken by me in my driveway at home. I realize that I have the luxury of seeing and touching the car. Unfortunately, ou are limited to images on a computer screen. I drove her to lunch today. What I see here in digital photos is what I saw in real life. A very pretty car. Smart decisions were made at every turn. I just installed the new 18 and 20 inch wheel and tire package. I went through several options before landing here. My goal was to be tasteful while also creating a one-of-a-kind appearance. Mission accomplished. I was concerned that the car would ride and handle differently but I worried for nothing. She still rides, andles and feels great at all speeds. Very happy with results.

The interior is very, ery nice. Seats, oor panels, ear side panels, arpet, eadliner and dashboard are all beautiful. No excuses required.

This is the factory, riginal numbers matching 350 engine but with mild upgrades. The motor has been freshened. Rings and bearings were done, nbsp;performance cam, ew lifters, tc. An aluminum intake and Edelbrock carburetor were also added. Ceramic coated headers and new exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers give the car a sound that is second to none. Sometimes things just come together perfectly. That best describes the mechanical components of the car. Everything works together in smooth harmony. Simply turn the key and go.

Just another detail worth mentioning- The window mechanisms have been taken apart and greased. Every window goes up and down perfectly.

All glass is nice including the windshield but it does have very minor wiper marks from normal use. They are hardly noticeable.

Brakes are all new with DISC option up front.

These tiny blisters at the edge of the rear quarter panel have remained unchanged and are only visible if you get down on your knees. Both sides have this minor blem. Again, hey are almost invisible but needed to be mentioned.

As of today, verything on the car works correctly. All lights, ven the back-up's and license plate, very interior switch, eater, auges, ipers, orn, tc.

This is the fender that was replaced years ago due to a minor accident. Damage was very minor and repair is undetectable.Drivers door glass rolls up and down perfectly like all the rest. It does have some light superficial scratches. Rubber seals and weather stripping are new.

I only looked away from the road for a second to snap this pic while driving. I drove across the river into Washington the day I took these photos. Such a great driving car.

The front seat and carpet are the only restored interior items. Very impressive original components throughout and the interior does the best job of supporting the gentle and un-abused life the car has experienced.

Steering wheel and dash are gorgeous.

99,882 true and correct miles. The car is currently in the garage and will stay there. I will let the next owner be the one to roll the miles over.

Dash pad is mint.

Entire trunk area is excellent. No repairs, atches, tc. Yes, here is a spare and jack.

Factory stampings on both original quarter panels.

The engine starts and performs beautifully. Throttle response is crisp and power is impressive in all ranges. If you want your back pushed into the seat just press the gas pedal. All mechanical components have been gone through as needed within the last 5000 miles. The transmission has been rebuilt. The rear-end is all new and updated with a locker POSI unit and 3:08 gearing (quick off the line but very highway friendly gears). All new brakes, xles, eals, earings, tc... The car is very well sorted and dialed-in. The definition of "turn Key". Toss the keys to anyone, ven the wife will enjoy her. No lessons required. One of the most user-friendly and fun cars I've ever driven.

Updated to HEI electronic ignition.

Original core support and all inner structures are excellent.

The undercarriage is outstanding. Rust-free and rock-solid on every square inch. Not even rust scale or flaking of any kind.

My garage floor normally stays completely dry. While taking these underside pics I found a little residue but everything is still very clean.

Original floors! MINT! The undersides are spectacular. Never exposed to salted roads. 90 minutes of pressure washing would be a very rewarding task.

Backsides of both quarters are beautiful. All I did is wipe away the thin coating of road-grime and these were the results. Even the factory plastic plugs are still in-place. I have no idea how long the little screw has been stuck in there. Probably kicked up by a tire many years ago.

Original window sticker.

Free and clear certificate of title as described in great detail at the very beginning of this write-up. I blurred out my owner info. Title will be signed off and released to the new owner.

Correct engine stampings located on the block pad behind the alternator. Next to this set of numbers is the VIN 1L168093 which matches the car perfectly. My camera could not capture those numbers but they are easy to see. 100% original, ay-one engine.

Factory trim tag showing correct codes. Paint code 52 for Sunflower Yellow and noted as vinyl top option. Code 704 for black cloth interior.

I'm hoping that my appreciation for this car is obvious and that your impression is fully formed by now. Attention to details are easy to find. It is simply outstanding and has been a pleasure to own and drive. It's nice to pass the torch to the next owner and say with a clear conscience that she's ready to show and enjoy now. No tinkering or repairs needed. Thanks again-____________________________________________________________Terms of Sale: 44yr old vehiclebeing sold AS-IS:

I fully expect and I'm more than happy to be an active and hands-on part of this entire process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and anypre-purchase inspections need to be doneBEFOREauction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition formand other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. They have handled my transport needs perfectly for the last several years with careful handling, xcellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. I will provide contact info at your request. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them before I started using only private carriers were just fine. My location zip code is 97214.
