This 1971 Stingray rolled off the assembly line on February 15, 971 (G15). The transmission is correct and original with the last six digits of the VIN, 109182, tamped on the main case and pictured below as well as the date code, 1B02A. The "P" indicates that this is a Muncie transmission. The "1" indicates the model year, 971. The "B" is the second month of the year and the "02" is the second day of the month. The "A" is a suffix letter that indicates the gear ratio. So this is a Muncie Wide Ratio 4-Speed transmission that was assembled on February 02, 971. The engine is not completely numbers matching, ut does have a 3932388 casting number.
