Chevrolet El Camino 1968 Description

Engine:

ØSize; cubic inch: 454 bored .30 over with a 2-bolt main, rom a 1974 Chevy .

Ø Pistons are TRW' forged 11 .5-1 high dome type that has been worked to fit

the heads.

ØCompression: 11-1. I think with the head gasket it is probably closer to 11-1

compression.

ØFuel - Run 93-octane fuel (but I would always use a bottle of octane booster with

every other fill up.)

ØCrank turned . 10 / .10 cast from same truck.

ØRods are heavy-duty truck rods that have been shot peened & balanced and ARP fasteners installed.

ØHeads are from a 1968 396, hey are semi oval port that have been ported

and larger valves installed.

ØCam is a "Crane Blueprint LS-6 or LS-7, can't remember. The exhaust lift

is .530 / intake .540 and it is a solid type lift. (I usually adjust the valves cold at 24 thousands on intake and 26 exhaust. You can play around with that to find out what works best for you.)

ØLifters are Harland Sharp l.7 ratio roller type.

ØIntake manifold is a C-396 Edelbrock from a 1968 396 big block. It is a duel plain type and works very well with the lift of the cam. I would go to a single plan intake if you go with bigger cam with lift around .600.

ØWater pump is a Edelbrock high flow aluminum type.

ØFan is a new clutch fan.

ØRadiator is a Griffin aluminum cross flow radiator.

ØIgnition is MSD 6-AL ignition with rev-limiter (watch out for the big spark as it will knock you on your butt if your not careful.)

ØCarburetor is a Holley 3-barrel 950cfm carb. off a Chrysler hemi stock car. (This is a rare carb. and you may want to take it off and store it).

ØFlywheel is a Mickey Thompson steel billet (another rare piece) that has been balanced to the cutch and full rotating assembly.

Rear End:

ØRear End is from Moser Engineering with 4:11 Eaton gears.

o Assembly: Mark Williams c-clip eliminator kit, xle tubes welded to the pumpkin, eavy duty carrier caps & sealed.

o Pos-a-traction unit is a Moros Brute Strength with 33 splined axles.

o The rear-end is absolutely bullet proof and was guaranteed to with stand 1000 hp!!!

Suspension:

ØSuspension has been completely rebuilt using all Moog replacement parts.

ØControl Arms are Edelbrock anti-hop upper and lower control arms with adjustable pumpkin braces.

Wheels:

ØRally wheels aftermarket brand 15 x 10 rear and 15 x 6 front.

Transmission:

ØTransmission is a (very rare and worth around $1500.00) 1965 code dated Muncie M-22 Super Close ratio that has been rebuilt. This trans came out of a road race Corvette.

ØShifter has a new Hurst shifter linkage and shifter handle.

Exhaust:

ØExhaust pipes are 3" exhaust system with dual Flow Master mufflers, nd exhaust to the rear bumpers.

Gas Tank:

ØGas tank is a new S.S. tank, ending unit and straps.

Body:

ØPaint is G.M. victory red with clear coat and black stripes on hood.

ØTonto cover is new with snap on black vinyl cover.

ØTop is black vinyl.

ØMoldings are new on doors and tail gate.

ØCarpeting is new black original loop carpeting.

ØTail Gate has new straps.

ØOriginal spare, ack and hardware.

ØOriginal Owner protector-plate with owner's manual in glove box.
