Chevrolet El Camino 1972 Description
Hello.
You are bidding on a 1972 El Camino. It was purchased new at Gem Chevrolet in Watsonville, Ca. and has never left the West Coast. It originally came equipped with 350 engine, TH350 transmission, posi rear axle, power steering, power brakes, factory a/c, and tilt steering column. Engine is still the numbers matching engine to the car. Always adult owned and always garaged when not being driven. The car is in Southern Oregon stored at my dads, and will ship from there.
Condition is as follows:
Body:
Excellent Condition, very straight car. One single repaint with all original GM panels. Zero rust issues, not a bondo bucket. Excellent floors and underbody, nice wheelwell lips and quarter panels. Bed is in excellent shape as you can see.Doors hang and shut like new. Glass is in excellent condition. Most of the chrome and trim is still in good to very good condition. Vinyl top is in good shape with no rips or damage, just a minor ding on the drivers top rear corner. The repaint was done in `92 and is now showing some blems, minor chips and scuffs, but overall still shows and shines very well as you can see in the pictures. Just expect normal wear and tear.
Interior:
Other than a reupholstered seat and aftermarket gauges under the dash, mostly stock showing wear as you can see. Dashpad is original with no cracks or damage. Everything works, tilt and steering column is tight. Headliner is starting to lose stitching but still mostly intact for now. Windows and wind wing regulatorswork well. A new heater core was just recently installed. Overall, the interior is in very good driver condition.
Chassis/running gear:
Engine fires right up everytime, doesn`t smoke, no leaks anywhere. Runs and drives great around town and on the highway and shifts nice. Rear end is a posi and gears are somewhere in the 2:73-3:08 range so its a nice highway cruiser. Brakes work great and booster and master cylinder are new. Front end feels tight. Non stock items include a transmission cooler, set of valve covers and Edelbrock Performer intake, carb and air cleaner, and dual exhaust. Engine and engine compartment remain original otherwise.Previous ownersaid the a/c worked at some point but lost the charge. Thea/c pulley turns freely and the system hasn`t been opened so it shouldn`t take much to get the a/c working again. New parts include points, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, water pump, hoses and coolant. Tires are the only thing that I would replace soon, they are ok for now but are getting old.
Overall, this is a nice, solid California car that can be enjoyed as is. Buyer will not be disappointed.
