Chevrolet Corvair 1965 Description
This 1965 Chevrolet Corsa convertible is being sold by a long time corvair owner who has owned this turbocharged convertible 36 years and has decided to let it go. I have known the car myself for longer than he has owned it and he asked for myassistancein helping to find a new home. Its abeautifulcar with the classic good looks in was called by many autoenthusiastsas one of the best looking bodydesignsof the mid sixties. The suspension is the second generation fullyindependent designwhich is very similar to the Corvette yet in a much lighter car .There were 8353 Corsa Convertibles produced in 1965 in the United States and this car has the optional L87 turbocharged aircooled flat six. The engine starts easily and runs smoothly . Out on the road warmed up it has good boost under load and it feels strong. If you have never driven a late Corvair with the 180 hp engine they are very smooth well behaved and mild mannered . The turbo likes open road at cruising speed. And they really are fun when you slowly plant your right foot to the floor and the boost just keeps building ...There are no oil leaks from the engine . The transmission shifts well and is quiet although the clutch does have some chatter on initial take off. It holds well and does not slip. The top is manual and is in very good condition with no defects and a nice clear rear window. The top weatherstrips were all replaced then the top was installed . There is a top boot and a car cover in the trunk that are included . The AM radio works and there is a auto power antenna in the rear. The paint on this car is in good to average condition and it looks very nice on the road or from a distance . But there are a number of blemishes in the paint and a few small areas that have bubbles and a couple rust spots that need attention .The right door jamb near the back of the sill plate has some rust appearing and some small bubbles And the paint towards the front of the sill plate also has bubbles under the paint .The left rear quarter panel at the top wheel arch has a area about 1" of small bubbles /rust under the paint. The Right rear quarter panel at the front of the wheel arch has a 1" bubbles spot. The front cowl panel has some paint checking and to me seems a slight bit darker in color than the remainder of the car.The lower windshield area has minor small cracks in the paint on both sides. Both of the rear 1/4 panel lower areas behind the wheels has had previous panels replaced. There is a pint can of paint that is included with the car.Overall I would say it is above average paint and very nice driver quality paint. The car has a modified set of seats in very nice condition although the driver seat has some very small cracks in the lowerupholstery. The carpet is very nice and fits well .The fisher body tag codes are65-10767 WRN713-W2LS3C4FUO N 2 Madeira MaroonAO2 Tint WindshieldU73 rear antennaB7O padded dashZ13 comfort andconvinceBP19 spare tire lock ( missing )L87 180 HP EnginePlease ask questions if you want and please dont wait until the last day. Please dont ask how much the car is.Also the car can be seen if you are in the Upstate SC area. Just ask for my or the owners info..We want the car to have a new "happy" owner . So ask questions first.thanks
