Chevrolet Impala 1962 Description
1962 Impala Coupe which I've owned since 1999. I've put less than 2000 mi on it since I've owned it. The speedo has 23389 which has to be incorrect. The man I bought the car from bought it in NC & took it to La. He had the motor rebuilt, new rear door panels, new carpet & the front & rear seats re-done. The clock does not work. The factory Radio works but is disconnected from the antenna. The new radio & CD player mounted under the dash is hooked to the antenna. This winter I had the carb rebuilt, new front door panels, new sail panels, new sun visors, new head liner, new bottom rail & top rail on drivers door glass with all interior handles and trim put to the buffer. The brakes are all new with 2 new drums. 1 front & 1 rear. The wheels cylinders were rebuilt 3 yrs ago. You have to use the power brakes carefully or they will try to put you through the windshield. The tires are new radials, 1 yr old with probably 200 miles on them. The only numbers I could get off the right front of the motor is T020IS. S being for 62 with automatic. The trans used to leak at the dipstick. The tranny was pulled last spring with the front & rear seal replaced, a new o-ring on the pump, new screen and new o-ring on the fill tube. The casting numbers on the heads, the intake and the center section of the rear end are A 18 62. I believe this is the original engine for this car. The 327 has an HEI ignition on it with the original distributor in the trunk. All new parts in it. The original heater box & other components removed for the after market A/C are also in the trunk. The A/C was recharged last year. The hood was repainted 2 yrs ago. There is a good chance the rest of the paint is original. All lights work including the horn. Horn has a nice soft mellow sound. I bought a new hockey stick for the drivers rear but it was made incorrectly and didn't fit like the original. The original can be polished & saved, I just don't have the time at the present. I just had my 64 chevy (409) painted, the other 64 touched up, a 1966 Bonneville convertible painted with my 34 Plymouth waiting in line. Too many cars for my age. No time to drive them all. I just convinced myself to sell this car. If it doesn't sell I'll keep it under roof where it has been for 16 years. The car is every bit of what I've described. Call Seven 24*Eight Eight 0 Two Two 18 with questions or email me. The car is in SW Pa. If you are a serious buyer, call to you see the car or have me get you more pictures. I welcome answering your questions by phone. I'm slow on emails. Optional SPINNERS on the wheel covers & aftermarket fender skirts. On May-30-16 at 19:08:48 PDT, seller added the following information:
I forgot, the pictures fo the front door panels are the originals. They were in good shape just too dirty to clean up. REMEMBER that the car has new panels which are bright red & not dirty looking like these!!!!!
A question was asked if the car had a heater. The after market unit required removal of the factory heater but has its own heater with the A/C. The A/C can be removed and the original factory equipment put back.
