Chevrolet Blazer 1983 Description
Awesome clean truck that I am the third family to own in the last 32 years. All of those years were in SC. 305 cid engine Edelbrock 4 barrel 600cfm auto transmission convertible hard top (removable) 31x10.5 tires BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain TA NEVER been lifted Air Conditioning Odometer read 61164 (may be 161164) on May 28 2015 Work done in the last 2 years: Tranny rebuilt 4/2013 Exhaust redone 12/13 Tune Up (new plugs wires etc) 12/13 Battery replaced 2/14 Steering gear box replaced 2/14 Front leaf springs replaced 2/14 Front brakes serviced 2/14 Tune up 4/14 Air Condition lines replaced and coolant recharge 4/14 New Edelbrock 4 barrel 600cfm carb installed 12/14 Minor rust at lower corners of front windshield and lower edge of hard top. I have the moulding trim for the tailgate I just haven't glued it on. I also have the old Edelbrock 4 barrel which I rebuilt in 11/2014 before deciding to just replace it completely.I found this gem 18 months ago from a guy in Charleston SC and have used it as a daily driver. The guy I bought it from had the bill of sale from the original family that bought it in Myrtle Beach SC in 1983. The guy before me had the tranny rebuilt in Ravenel SC in April 2013. Since taking ownership I have replaced battery fixed Air Conditioner replaced exhaust system had a tune-up because it ran like crap replaced the Edelbrock 4 barrel 600cfm carb with a new one (I still have the old one) replaced the accelerator linkage replaced the front springs replaced the steering gearbox. With the exception of some cracks on the top of the dash vinyl the interior is very nice for a classic. The only noticeable rust areas are minor bubbling at the lower corners of the front windshield but more significant rust at the bottom of the hardtop shell on the left side. But for a 32 year old truck she doesn't have a lot. She's a sharp looker. Oh I also have the back trim molding that fell off and just needs to be re-glued. She has a good sound system. I can post photos of that later. I'm handing her off a lot better than I got her. When I first got her she would swerve left and right like I was drunk. She would sputter and jerk from 25-45mph. She is much much better now with all I have done (see above). Don't get me wrong she can be a temperamental old lady sometimes. Especially if it is very cold or very hot. But not always. Occasionally she'll diesel on shutdown. So she probably needs to be tuned up again since I installed the new 4 barrel myself. Why at 42 years old I felt the need to get an 18 year old's toy truck don't ask me! Why I needed another toy in addition to a 69 Firebird Convertible I was already restoring don't ask! Especially don't ask my wife! I am starting a new job back that will require travel all over South Carolina and need something that gets good gas mileage. Now she is sweet but like any old truck she drinks gas like a man drinking water in the desert. I did forget to mention that when I had my mechanic inspect her beforehand he felt confident she had NEVER been in the mud. That's right boys she's a virgin for you to take out there in the mud! NEVER been lifted so she ain't all out of whack! And she is a looker...I can't tell you how many times I have high school kids wishing they had a truck like this!
