Chevrolet C-10 1963 Description
I am the third owner of this beautiful truck. The first owner bought it in 1963 and died in 1971. His brother inherited the truck and owned it until I bought it 6 years ago. I had the truck restored. Very little body work needed to be done as it had been kept under cover its whole life. I had it painted turquoise, like my dad's truck that I learned to drive on. It was originally red. At least that's what Chevrolet called it. It looked orange to me. The bed was removed and though rust was minor any rust was fixed. The paint looks good. At any rate it is in very good condition. All original and matching numbers. The engine is a 283 THAT HAS NEVER BEEN REBUILT. Transmission is a 3 on the tree. Shifts perfectly. It has just under 92000 original miles. Motor runs like a champ. Starts first time every time and uses very little oil. It has the large rear window. I have replaced the gas tank, replaced the front seal, rebuilt the carb, replaced all the rubber and the floor mat, had new wheel bearings put in and bought new tires. It has been serviced every 1000 miles since I owned it. I drive this truck regularly. It is not a show truck. I drive it about 3 times per week to haul garbage or to go to church on Wednesday nights. It has some flaws. The door strap broke on the drivers door and it swung open to far causing dents in the door. I have rigged the door with wire ties. It needs to have the strap fixed. The front door is hard to close. You really have to slam it. The latches are all fine, but the door needs adjustment. I just slam it, but it needs fixed. There is a gromet underneath that holds the muffler and tail pipe in place that has broken. An easy fix, but the tail pipe only hangs down a little lower than it should and I haven't taken the time to fix it. It has a vibration at really high speed. It isn't noticeable until you get up to interstate speed. My mechanic says the drive shaft needs to be trued. I rarely drive at those speeds, so it hasn't been that important to me. I love this truck. My dad had one just like it when I was little and I learned to drive on it. My wife and I have adopted 6 small children and I need the money. This will be a great driver for someone, or with a little work a great show truck. Feel free to email me, or to come and see the truck before bidding, if you like.
