Chevrolet Other Pickups 1949 Description

1949 Chevrolet 3100

This isn't your average 49 Chevy Pickup. Trucks like this don't come around often, don't miss your chance to own a good one!

I purchased this stunning pickup from the 2nd owner. In 1989 he purchased an entire estate in a small town in Missouri. In the garage of the estate was this 100% original, super clean survivor 19k mile, Forester Green 1949 Chevy pickup. The truck had been kept in that garage since it was new. It wasn't abused, worked, or exposed to the elements. He drove the truck very little. The original paint had some sun fade, so in 1991 he decided to have the truck repainted. It was done professionally and was done correctly. He also had new bed wood installed. After that the truck was driven very sparingly and kept in the garage. It has only had 300 miles put on it in the past 27 years.
When the opportunity came up to purchase the truck I did not hesitate. I have owned countless 47-54 Chevy pick ups and still have many. I know a good truck when I see one. A truck that looks this good fresh out of the body shop would impress anyone. A truck that looks this good after being painted for 25 years, thats how you know you have a good one. Thats not something you see everyday.
Besides the paint and bed wood, the truck was 100% original and untouched. After purchasing the truck I added a few new chrome parts. The originals were nice, but the paint and body were so slick, I thought the truck was deserving of some fresh chrome. I had the seat and door panels redone to factory specs. I also did some detailing and painting under the hood.
The paint and body on this truck are stunning! The body is super straight, all the gaps are good and panel fitment is very nice! There is zero signs of paint shrinkage, or rust blistering. There is no orange peel or runs. The truck retains all its original body panels. It has no aftermarket metal on it. There cannot be much body filler, if any, in this truck. There are no signs of filler cracking, pin holes, or any of the other tell tale signs of body filler. After this long, it was have starter to show signs, and there are none.
The paint on the firewall is original.
The door open and close like new (because they have never been apart). The windows roll up and down smoothly.
The truck has a gas heater that is all intact and hooked up. I have never tried it. The truck has working lights, turn signals, speedometer, temp gauge, oil pressure gauge, volt meter, horn, etc. Even the vacuum wiper still work.
The original motor runs like a sewing machine. Pull the choke and it fires right up! The clutch and brakes feel good. The truck shifts nicely and goes through all the gears just like it should. The original 6 volt charging system works nicely. The original spare wheel and tire are under the bed.
I was told that the 19,300 miles on the odometer were original and have no reason to believe otherwise. I do have old paperwork and registration papers that document some of the mileage.
The plugs and plug wires appear to be original. It has the original wiring. Original lever shocks front and rear. Originalexhaust. This truck even had the original tires on it when I bought it. I have since added a set of BF Goodwrich Silvertown Bias ply wide whites.
It has the original key.
There are plenty of restored trucks out there with new metal, rebuilt motors, and loaded with reproduction parts. Its not very often you find a truck this original, that looks this good. While it isnt 100% original, and has had a few new parts and some light restoration work, it is far more original than most out there.
These trucks are climbing in value, and one like this is sure to be a sound investment. It is ready for someone to enjoy!
