From boulevard cruising to road course bruising, it's hard to find a better all-around performer than a Corvette. And once Chevrolet firmly established the brand as a global tour de force, it began a constant quest to achieve increasing levels of performance and desirability. No generation of Corvette emphasizes the transition from muscle car to all-out sports car better than the C3. And this awesome coupe, featuring a numbers-matching LS5/4-speed drivetrain, is a whole lot of car for not a lot of money. If you're in the market for a cool classic that'll hold its own at the cruise night and the stoplight, take a look at this awesome Chevy!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Assembled at GM's storied St. Louis manufacturing facility, and restored as needed, this voluptuous Vette has been bathed in correct GM code 973 Mille Miglia base and sealed in glossy clear. The foundation for that vibrant pigment is a solid fiberglass body that presents well and, by the looks of things, has never been heavily damaged or received any major modifications. That composite is detailed in correct trim and color-keyed T-tops. And today, this clean Chevy rolls as one high quality, well-maintained classic that's great to drive and fun to look at!

ENGINE

According to Car and Driver Magazine, big block C3s are "extraordinarily fast and marginally civilized". In our opinion, that's an excellent way to compliment America's favorite sports car. Tilt this Chevy's hood and you'll find an original LS5 454 that's authenticated by a correct 3999289 casting number, a correct "CSR" suffix stamp and a matching partial VIN. At the top of that mill, a chrome-trimmed, dual-snorkel air cleaner forces wind in to a big Carter carburetor and correct, cast iron intake. At the back of that intake, a chrome-capped distributor sequences fire through fresh AC Delco Premium Wires. Below those wires, correct exhaust manifolds frame stamped and painted valve covers. And in front of those covers, a shrouded radiator channels water past a correct fan and rebuilt Delco-Remy alternator with the help of pliable GM hoses. Aesthetically, the Chevy Orange mill looks great framed in a sea of subdued Satin Black paint. And everything, from the car's Harrison expansion tank all the way to its chrome-capped master cylinder is clean, sorted and ready to roll.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Peer under this low-slung coupe and you'll find a solid chassis that's straight and correct. The car's original big block twists torque through an original Muncie 4-speed, which follows a familiar 3925661 casting number with a Muncie (P) M21 (B) assembled on March ( C ) 7th (07), 1972 (2) build stamp and matching partial VINs. Beneath that drivetrain, a rebuilt suspension combines standard manual steering with tight turns and increased grip. In the middle of the car, a throaty, true-dual exhaust system pipes spent gases through rear-mount mufflers and polished stainless tips. At the corners of the car, factory discs ensure quick, drama-free stops. And all that fully sorted hardware rolls on handsome Rally Wheels, which spin F70-15 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sports around polished trim rings and turbine center caps.

INTERIOR

Open the car's sculpted doors and you'll find a correct Black interior that's believed to be largely original equipment. At the center of that cockpit, tall bucket seats anchor tight vinyl covers around correct shoulder belts. Between those seats, an angled console centers a traditional chrome shifter amid clean, color-keyed floor mats. Opposite that console, stainless-trimmed side panels point stainless handles at the base of a crack-free dash. That dash frames factory telemetry above an optional Delco AM/FM radio. And the driver traces the road with a satin-spoke steering wheel.
