Chevrolet Camaro 1985 Description
First year for the IROC Z-28 Camaro, 1985, this is a fantastic configuration of one of the most desirable years - particularly when equipped with the LB9 5.0 liter Tuned Port Fuel Injected V8. This was by far the strongest year for the 5.0's, with the larger L69 camshaft and better breathing ('86 and later were noticeably de-tuned as compared to the 1985 TPI 5.0's). Notice the tachometer as compared to the '86 and beyond 5.0 TPI's - this one redlines at 5500, higher than subsequent models. I've had several 5.7 liter TPI models, and in my opinion this one would out run them. The extra 500+ rpm's really help make the gear ratios work - it surprised me at how strongly it runs. This fully loaded IROC is in the rare and desirable color Silver Metallic, available only that year and unique to the IROC. Conteur interior is also coveted by collectors. Cruise, tilt wheel, power windows, power door locks, multi-adjustable driver's seat, roof T-bar console with removable flashlight still intact, graphic EQ cassette stereo w' ERS, 4-wheel disc brakes, TH700R 4-speed automatic transmission - very fully decked out 1st-year IROC.
I am the second owner of this very nice specimen, and I have known the original owner since the car was bought new at McDorman's Chevrolet in Canal Winchester, Ohio (now Jeff Wyler Chevrolet). Never wrecked, never seen snow or salty roads - it has been professionally repainted once due to the oxidation issue that plagued so many GM cars in the mid eighties. Everything works as it should (AC could use a recharge on the refrigerant, but works) and the car drives very nicely. Very low miles at under 31,000. I've got this priced to sell quickly as I have my eye on something else, so don't let the best deal on a quite collectible 1st year IROC in the rarest (and strikingly attractive) color combo, with the top level performance configuration, loaded full of options (car stickered over 21k in 1985) get away while I'm motivated. Again, unique color, unique engine - both only offered in 1985 (there is a big, noticeable drop off in LB9 5.0 TPI's post 1985) - this is the one folks.
