Chevrolet Other Pickups 1952 Description
1952 Chevrolet 3100. The Climax Mine Truck.Very cool truck with history. Story goes that in 1952 the Climax Mine in Leadville, Colorado bought this truck new from Burt Chevrolet in Englewood. It stayed on the mine ground for years and was used for light duty hauling. It was repainted at one time in its life and mine logos were applied. The mine in turn sold it to an employee who used until the early 80’s, blew the motor and left it for dead in the woods on the mine property. Around 1996 a friend was on a 4 wheeling trip in that area and noticed it. He contacted the mine, they did not realize it was there and told him to come get it but no title was available. He saved it from the woods. Got a new title issued, put in a 60’s 235 6 cyl and a 4 spd granny manual. Its back on the road now and runs great. I personally owned this one and enjoyed it this last year. Own a piece of Colorado History.
Body and Paint
Original body panels finished in its original Red with a little Patina. Has some dents and damage but solid and actuallypretty rust free. Takes an amazing amount of time to get paint like this. Does great at car shows and I always get attention in it.
Chassis, Suspension and Brakes
No modifications, car is from Colorado so frame and cab floor are very solid. Couple of tiny rust holes in cab floor corners but not bad. New shocks and bushings at some point, factory steering and brakes work very nice. Truck rides really well but has a few sqeaks and rattles on bumps.
Powertrain
Has a pretty fresh 235 6 cyl from the 60’s along with the 4 spd granny truck tranny, always fires right up. Runs about 55 max top speed, has original rear with stout gears. Not a highway truck. Original radiator gave out last year so I put in a new aluminum one.
Interior and Misc
Original dash, speedo works but not gauges, now a 12 volt system.
Seat is redone and comfortable and has a new factory rubber mat and shift boot. Windshields and rear glass are cracked, I didn’t fix it as it adds to Patina but may not pass some state inspections. Firestone wide whites on factory wheels
In stock and ready for delivery now. Car is also marketed locally and auction could end upon sale. Offers considered.
I have personal experience with this truck, please call for details.
