Chevrolet El Camino 1965 Description
This is a 1965 Chevrolet El Camino that was born with a 4 speed. On the Body Tag the "L" Code denotes that it is a original 4 spd vehicle not just made into one. And the casting # on the Muncie 4 speed does indicate 65-67 so it appears to be the original Muncie M20 trans. The engine is a 84 305, bored .040, with some 283 or 327 power pack heads, a factory cast iron four barrel intake, headers, Bucket Seatsand a Fresh Rebuilt Holley 600 carb. This truck will start, run, drive and stop, but not ready for every day driving without some tlc.
Someone in its past pulled out the factory idiot lights and gas gauge installing some aftermarket gauges which wasn't such a good idea, Now it has No Gas Gauge. They also installed a Sun Tach where the blank/clock spot was.
I do have an original dash panel that I will include with lights and gas gauge
Rear quarters need patched/replaced as thats its worst cancer spots.
The body mounts on the truck which are a common problem spot are Solid on this one.
Very Cool Running Driving Project in my book, as you dont see many Factory Stick Elkies!
It does have 15" Rally Wheels.
Clean Title with Current Oklahoma License Plate.
This car sat for years waiting on a paint job and the guy who was going to paint it never got to it. Past owner gave up and I got it a couple months ago.
As far as how it runs, once I had the carb rebuilt, you pull the manual choke, pump it a couple times and she will fire up. Oil & filter, were changed, as well as adding fuel filters, new air filter, new battery, plugs, and brake work was done so it has a good pedal and doesn’t pull. Have not changed the trans or rear-end fluids yet. The clutch seems to work fine. The previous owner told me it would occasionally pop out of gear and just knowing its 50+ years old, I did purchase a Muncie rebuild kit including seals, gaskets, and synchronizers. (included with sale)
It seems the driver’s front park light will light but when the directional is on doesn't flash. Could be socket or bad ground? The top tank of the radiator has a small leak. I don't like stop-leak myself, I would have repaired or they are relatively cheap to replace the radiator.
I am describing this truck to the best of my ability with issues I am aware of.
Keep in mind you are Considering Buying a Project Car here that is over 50 years old, so of course it is being sold “As Is”
