Chevrolet El Camino 1978 Description
PLEASE READ CAREFULLYUp for sale is our 1978 Chevrolet El Camino. We traded for this truck in 1998 with a friend who needed running transportation. His two sons had pretty much dogged the engine in this truck for good when we agreed on a swap for it and a '58 Apache on an '84 Grand Prix. First thing I did was get a Goodwrench crate engine 5.7 from Chuck HuttonChevrolet in Memphis TN.installed it and got it running again. After that the truck pretty much sat around waiting for the body work to begin. And wait it did.Life tookover and the truck took the back burner for nearly 15 years. It stayed in dry storage the entire time because the body had almost zero rust issues and I wanted to keep it that way. Body Mods were spread out over the years First was the tag relocation then the removal of the damaged bed rail moldings which were not in good condition and at the time unavailable through any reproduction. Later the bumpers were narrowed andflush mounted along with the addition of Monte Carlo Eurosport LS headlights. The truck rolls on 16" Pontiac Trans Am GTA wheels (Fronts) all the way around. The seats are Mitsubishi Eclipse buckets replacing the standard bench seat of the truck. A new set of seat belts from Seat Belt Planet make riding in it correct for all state laws. All new weatherstrip in the doors and roof rail & window channels. NewWindshield New wiper motor. Original Options on the Truck include Cruise Control Power Door Locks Power Windows 4 Channel Stereo.Rally Gauges (No Tach). Air Conditioning. Delay Wipers. The truck has been painted 10 months. That is real carbon fiber on the dash.I have driven this truck over 200 miles on a temporary registration to get all the bugs out. This includes replacing all wheel bearings axle bearings brakes rear air shocks replaced new shocks on front and replacing the factory intake and Q-jet with an Edelbrock intake and Carb kit w/ electric choke set up. Starts up like it's supposed to! There are probably some things the truck still needs ( audio detailunder hood etc.) but we have made a decision to sell because 1) We stillfind we do not have a use for this vehicle and no way to store it any longer. 2) For the last 6 months we have found ourselves just moving it in and out of the garage onoccasion. 3) We have a dog we like to take on short trips and we have an extended cab truck for that. There is nothing wrong with the truck except after all this time we still have no need for it.Please ask all questions before bidding I will answer promptly honestly and completely. This is an Auction... winning bidder is expected to send a $500.00 security deposit within 48 hours after close of auction through PAYPAL.
