Chevrolet Styleline 1950 Description
1950 CHEVROLET STYLELINE DELUXE 4DR216-6 cylinder, 3 spd manual transmission
MOSTLY ORIGINAL CAR, RUNS AND DRIVES, RECOVERED FROM 17 YRS OF DRY, INDOOR STORAGE.
Shows 71K on odometer, previous owner claimed actual miles, with rebuilt engine. I see no reason to dispute his claim.
The new stuff I installed to bring it back to driver status:
Full set of new Coker Wide Whites (G78/15)
Fuel tank (Ecklers),inline filter and pump (Photo is with old tank)
Water pump, aluminum radiator. Radiator hoses.
All 4 wheel cylinders and master cylinder rebuilt and all new brake hoses
Complete tune up, points, condensor, cap, rotor, plugs and plug wires, ignition coil, accelerator pump
New Battery, one wire Delcotron and fan belt.
Things from the past as I obtained it:
Engine has been rebuilt per previous owner.
Brake shoes like new in front, 75% rear, nice, smooth drums
Older repaint, proper lacquer. Showing some age, several door chips, some scratches, etc.
No obvious rust out. Front seat cushion has been recovered with correct cloth at one time.
Period accessories, Genuine Chevrolet full wheel covers, aftermarket visor, chrome half moon headlight eyelids.
Fender skirts. Has had 1949 lower center vertical grille bars added.
All glass intact, BB ding in LR vent window, one door glass has bubbles in the lamination at bottom, not cloudy.
Original spare wheel, possibly original tire in trunk, holding air.
Exhaust system has been replaced with some non-original design parts, but intact, one very small leak behind muffler.
Full disclosure. Things lacking or needing done:
Really should be converted to 12V electrical system. Very few parts required on these cars, alternator, battery, bulbs, resistors for fuel guage and blower motor, 12V ignition coil. Starter, ammeter, temp guage stay the same.
Front seat backrest and both front door panels need recovered. Carpets are worn, front rubber mat crisp and crackly as you would expect for it's age. Headliner intact, original.
There is a slight transmission lube leak at torque tube seal area.
Factory radio and clock present but not working. I have made no attempt to trouble shoot or repair either.
Have clear Kansas title, car is titled by engine number as was often the case in those days. Rebuilt engine is not original number, engine block ID HAA555253.
Body VIN on left windshield pillar is 3HK F 67841. Kansas Highway Patrol said to leave title as-is when I inquired about correcting title to body VIN.
All in all, a quite decent, mostly original survivor. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on your point of view, this car drives very much as I remember from my youth, when it seems like every member of my family had a least one of this series of Chevrolets.
Pictures tell the story.
I will be happy to provide additional photos or answer reasonable questions upon request.
Selling because I found another older Chevy I prefer to keep. Not as original, nor frankly as solid as this one, but more friendly to my style of cruising as well as easier for my wife to drive since she broke her right shoulder and the manual column shift is physically challenging for her. Don't have room to keep both cars.
I reserve the right to end bidding at any time as I do have this car advertised locally as well.
See payment and shipping details. Cash in hand for local pickup is fine. I will meet you at my local bank during their business hours to complete transaction.
Thanks for looking. Happy bidding!
