Chevrolet Corvette 1957 Description
1957 Corvette. I am relisting this with more correct information from my previous listing plus several people have requested a buy it now be added. It is solid and mostly there. The original color was Arctic Blue. Only 487 of the 6339 1957 Corvettes were produced in that color. It still has the original unrestored spare in the trunk with the factory Arctic Blue paint on it. The car looks to have been painted black and burgundy with silver stripes at some points over her life. Currently it is stripped to the gel coat and fiberglass on most of the car. It still has factory paint inside the trunk and inside he soft top well. The pictures show that it has had the cross flags and Fuel Injection badges installed on the coves and on the trunk lid at one time. Now all the body holes are filled. Its not a barn find, it has just been just sitting in a garage most of her life. It has a later NOM 327 and 4 speed from mid 60's Corvette in it. The original engine and trans are MIA. The current engine runs absolutely great. The pictures show the front engine pad. The trans works great. All of the gauges work including the tachometer. It carries great oil pressure and the tachdrive generator is charging. The clock is not working. There is no radio with the car. The dash has been cut up a bit for a different radio at some point. It has both tops. The soft top is pretty rough and the material is hard from age. The hard top has a cracked back window and is likely from a 1958 Corvette rather than a 1957. The front glass is good. The windows roll up and down. The side glass good. The seats are good. It needs carpet but the door panels are definitely usable. It has later wheels on the car, 1960's Corvette wheels. The tires are pretty new BF Goodrich and still have some of the blue shipping dye on the white letters. The frame is solid, there is no rust that I can see. The front end appears to have had some fiberglass work done on it. Someone has removed the fender vents and smoothed them over. Same with the emblems, trim, the front bumpers, and rear vertical bumpers surrounding the exhaust exit ports. Its easy to see the fill in all of these locations, it would be fairly easy to remove and put things back to stock. Its not a big brake car. Its not an airbox car. It may have been an original Fuelie but someone pointed out that it does not have the Fuelie bellcrank. You can make the determination if you feel it was a Fuelie or not. The car comes with the trim you can see in the pictures. The center part of the grille is there but the grille surround is missing. I have a pair of headlight trim rings that go with it but they are pretty pitted. There is no cove trim with the car. It has later taillights in it, I believe from a 58 but the fiberglass there appears unmodified. I have an extra original fuel tank that goes with it. The box in the trunk has some old parts like an extra old fuel tank sending unit. The glove box door and trim is in there as well. I believe it was removed as the key to the lock was lost. It also comes with a set of replacement fiberglass fender vents and new bonding strips. It needs a total restoration but it runs, drives, and is mostly there. The brakes were working recently but now the pedal goes to the floor. It appears there is a fluid leak at the back soft line. Its probably an easy fix. Its serial number 1439 of 6339 and one of only 487 Arctic Blue cars. Its a great starting point for whatever you want to do with it. It would be a great restomod candidate with the non-matching numbers engine and trans. The brakes could be repaired and you could drive it as a rat rod. I have several projects going and I need to free up some space. I purchased it from the last owner that owned it since the early 60's. It has a good clear Iowa title. NO RESERVE. Buyer arranges and pays for shipping Payment forms Cashiers Check, Cash, Bank Transfer. AS IS WHERE IS. Please ask questions before you bid. This is a 60 year old car. I would recommend you inspect it. I have done my best to describe it but may have left out things that are important to you.
