Chevrolet Nova 1965 Description
This is a very clean and solid little 4 door nova cruiser. It runs good and can be driven long distances even in the Arizona heat as I have driven it to Phoenix and back a few times since I have owned it without issues (about 200 miles round-trip). I purchased this little Nova to get ready to give to my daughter who is approaching driving age. Unfortunately we just lost both our AC units at hour house and need some extra cash to replace those so I'm selling a few toys. I will outline the history and condition the best I can below:HISTORY: The car was originally purchased in South Dakota and promptly driven to the Phoenix area where it remained it's entire life. It was owned by snowbirds who spent the winter months in Phoenix and this was their driver they kept in Arizona year round. It was purchased from the original owner by a Nova enthusiast in the 1990's who had plans to put a V8 engine in the car and he removed the 6 cylinder emblems from the two front fenders and had the holes welded in. He then had the car painted the original color. He never got to the V8 conversion and instead sold the car to an elderly man in Meza, Arizona who I purchased the car from. He used the car sparingly over the years that he owned it.
EXTERIOR:The car was repainted the original color at some point in the 1990's. The second paint job basically was burned off by the Arizona sun over the years and I took the liberty of hand sanding the rest of the paint off and so the car now sits wearing it's original paint with some patina showing through. The spot on the hood is where the original paint burned down to metal so there is still some of the paint from the second paint job there on the hood and where the front fender emblem holes were welded shut. If I sanded any further in those spots then bare metal would be showing so I left some of the paint on for coverage. I hand buffed the two front fenders and hood just to see how it would look so you can see slight differences in the front clip due to that reason. The car is 100% rust free and super solid. All doors and body seams line up very nicely and the doors all open and shut like new. This car needs no body work, it's super straight! All glass is in great shape and all trim is present and in good condition except driver's side tail piece which is damaged but is available in reproduction. All chrome is in excellent condition. The grill is in good condition but could use some minor straightening in some areas. All lights and lenses are in great shape. Tires are brand new and it has all four of it's factory poverty dish hubcaps. The owner I purchased the Nova from was worried about the surface rust in the trunk and so he sanded down the factory spatter paint and coated the inner portion under the mat with black undercoating but there is no heavy rust in the trunk and it is super solid.
INTERIOR: The elderly man I purchased the Nova from had the carpet replaced with factory style carpet from Classic Industries that looks new. He also had the front and rear seats recovered and they also look new and are very comfortable. Otherwise the interior is all original and in great condition. No warping of any of the original door panels. All interior lighting work including dome, dash and glove box lights. All gauges work and idiot lights. Horn works. This was a factory radio delete car. All windows roll up and down like new and all doors lock as they should. Heater works and fan on all speeds.
MECHANICAL:The car has it's original drive train which is the six cylinder engine with the two speed powerglide automatic transmission. It starts right up every time with no smoking or funny noises. While it does run good, it probably could use a tune up but I wasn't going to put money in the engine as I had plans to put a little small block V8 in the car for my daughter. It shifts through the gears as it should. Brakes work as they should including the emergency brake. It doesn't seem to burn any oil. It does leak a little transmission fluid when parked for awhile. It really needs nothing mechanically to be a daily driver.
In summary, this is a very clean and straight classic cruiser that needs nothing currently. It's a Nova and we all know what the prices are now on Novas and where the prices will continue to go. This is an opportunity to get into a very nice classic family Nova and not break the bank doing it. It turns heads like crazy and people love the car everywhere we take it. You could go any direction with this one, back to original or sleeper car or anywhere in between. I cannot see any Nova enthusiast being disappointed in this car for the price I'm asking. I do require a $500 deposit on the car within 24 hours of the auctions end with the balance due within 7 days of the auction close. The car is being sold "as is" with no warranties expressed or implied. Look at the pictures and my feedback and bid with confidence. The car can be kept in the garage for a reasonable period of time for the new owner to arrange shipping. Best of luck!
