Chevrolet C/K Pickup 1500 1968 Description

Jimsparts specializes in NOS and Used Chevrolet Parts for your 1950’s ~ 1970’s Chevrolet 1968 Chevrolet C-10 Short Fleetside P.U. Original Unrestored From Estate of Orig. Owner

This truck was sold new in San Jose, CA and spent it's whole life there. It was used as a commuter vehicle by the head of the Aeronautics Dept at UCSJ. This truck was his baby and because of his aviation background he took very good care of it and kept records of everything ever done to it.

  • The paint is all original with the exception of a minor body repair to the RH (Passenger) Front Fender done years ago.
  • The interior is all original but the seat has 2 areas that have split open from use.
We serviced the truck and did the following:
  • Tune-up
  • Rebuilt the carb
  • Installed a new fuel pump
  • Packed the wheel bearings and inspected the brakes
  • The engine compression is 130 lbs on all cylinders
  • New windshield and gasket
It runs and drives very well. The engine is as it left the factory right down to the still hooked up smog pump system. The truck has Michelin X light truck radials that are under 5 years old and have aprox 3/4 of their original tread.

This truck has a paper trail all the way back to when it was built by Chevrolet. Due to the original owners aviation background he kept a file on the truck from day one. It includes a magazine ad on the 1968 Fleetside, the sales brochure the salesman gave his wife with the salesman business card. The thank-you note from the dealer after his wife came in and talked to the salesman. The second thank-you note after the purchase. Two copies of the build sheet(one more is still in the front seat springs). The original dealer invoice, the check stub for the full payment, the temporary registration and on and on.

Also included are all of the invoices for any repair or service for the next 49 years. In the glove box is the owners manual and the Protecto-Plate warranty book. Along with at least 18 notes people left on the truck over the years wanting to buy it, he saved everything.

The bed wood still has most of it's original paint. The wood is good with the exception of the Rh rear corner where the owner put a piece of sheet metal over the wood. The inside the bed sheet metal is exceptional for a almost 50 year old truck. Since this was his commuter vehicle he never used it like a truck. It has a very nice Brahma Topper and two cots that latch in place (These are ex-US Navy ship board racks). Perfect for the trip overnight to a show or swap meet. Look the photos over I tried to show every area on the truck that can have rust issues. There are photos of the underside of the cab and rear wheel well area. There is one area that has any rust issue on the entire truck.

The RH (Passenger) roof rain gutter had a sealer failure on the joint on the passenger side.Water got in and caused a small rust area above the door opening and a pinhole on the upper side of the door sill. Also there is a area on the lower passenger kick panel that shows a rust area. I removed the windshield and the opening area metal was fine with just a couple of areas with surface rust.I wire brushed those areas and applied POR-15.

We installed a new gasket and windshield, the old windshield had several stars and scratches. Every where else on the truck is as solid as new. I photographed the areas so you can see the entire rust on the whole truck.

All of the floors, cab corners, lower bed rockers, doors and fenders are as new. I try to describe everything I sell on Ebay as completely as possible.

The truck has over 100,000 miles but I don't know the actual number.

Thank-you,

Jim
