1957 Chevrolet 2 Dr Bel Air This beautiful classic car has been very well developed into a wonderful ride with modern options. The bright yellow paint and body work was completed over 10 years ago with a reported 10 coats of paint. The fit and finish is excellent with no evidence of body work coming back such as excessive bondo or plastic fillers. The car is shiny and most of the chrome is in excellent shape. Both driver and passenger floorboards were professionally replaced as was an original fuel tank. See pics. All of the glass is good with no cracks and the windows operate as they should. The drivetrain was updated with a modern 350 cu inch Chevrolet engine with four barrel carburetor. There is now an aluminum radiator with large electric fan mounted in front. The new dual exhaust system sounds and works well. The engine is hooked up to a 350 transmission with a great B & M floor shifter. The car is equipped with power steering and power brakes including modern disc brakes which are a far cry better than those original huge heavy drums. Recently, a professional restoration shop installed a modern air conditioning system that blows cold, cold, cold!!! The interior is stunning with bright yellow and white vinyl rolls and pleats. The headliner and carpet were also updated. A modern radio and sound system was implemented. A Chevy bow tie rear view mirror is a nice finishing touch. The wheels are classic Chevy wide rims with modern Goodyear Eagle tires, 215/70 14's. The trunk has been detailed with additional carpet and spare cover. This car for most of the past 20 years has always been garaged. Like most restorations, they are a work in progress and this car need very few items to create a near perfect ride. Here is a brief list of minor issues to address or not depending on your particular tastes in perfection: The original steering wheel has a few paint chips and cracks. The modern radio fit is not the best and in need of a radio bezel. The original license plate bezel is cracked and easily replaceable. The drivers door handle is slightly corroded and also easily replaceable. The large original trim panel on the passenger side needs adjustment. No money involved, just a little bit of time. Both door jams have very minor chips and nicks. The black radiator support under the hood has a few chips and easily repairable. The trunk mounting hinge bolts are nicked and should be repainted. Overall, this is a wonderful car, starting and driving is great. Mechanically, there are no issues to address. The items to address above would not involv very much time or money to make this car a steady show winner. It has already won many trophies just the way it is over the past 10 years, see photos. All of the updates were performed by professional shops. No backyard mechanics.
