Like a fine piece of artwork that has been passed from hand to hand to be appreciated and enjoyed by more than one owner while not losing original form, so has been the history of this 1967 427 cubic inch 435 horse power convertible.

This 17,830 mile convertible is now with what is thought to be its sixth owner. All of the owners had one thing in common: they all absolutely loved this car and treated it like a museum piece from the day they each bought it.

It does not appear as if this car was ever a daily driver. Fortunately there were 3754 of these fabulous Tri-Power cars made in 1967; unfortunately most were bought to race and therefore many were relegated to the wrecking yards and very few were treated to a life of leisure like this unique and rare example.

This is an absolutely fabulous Marlboro Maroon 427/435 two-top roadster that has gathered many of the most coveted Corvette Awards possible over the last 26 years that it has been campaigned. The best judges over those many years have laid their eyes and hands on this rare low mileage benchmark of the most coveted of all Corvettes from this era… maybe just the whole era of Corvettes.

The sorting out has been done and this 100% original and unmolested survivor is just looking for a new collector home. Finding cars like this has become more and more difficult and this one has to rank right up there with some of the most incredible survivor specimens in existence.

The car was built on March 6, 1967 and delivered new by Capital Chevrolet in Denver, CO.

This car is dead-nuts straight. The paint 100% original with no blends or obvious paint redo’s in its past. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate the paint at an 8.5 on the normal scale and a 9.8 on the Survivor Scale. There are several areas where some paint is degrading from age, however none are “in your face” issues and do not detract from the overall wonderful patina and appearance of the vehicle.

Some people would buy a car like this and possibly do a body on paint restoration. I would not, it would stay exactly like it is. As well there are experts in “sympathetic” paint restorations that could repair these small areas by light color sanding and spot blending back the old lacquer where needed. I have seen it done and done right it is simply incredible. For my taste, I absolutely love a little crinkle and crazing to add to the overall character of the car. We are all different and have our own ideas of how and what presentation we want out of our cars. But indeed, the historical significance of this car needs to be acknowledged no matter the direction of the new owner. Preservation is the rage today and if you are so inclined this may just be nirvana for you. It is for me!!!

The interior is 100% original and unmolested and has a look that simply cannot be duplicated entirely in a restoration process. Materials today are not of the same quality of 1967 and the richness of detail in the stitching, paint and vinyl finishes and chrome highlights is unmistakeable to the trained eye. This has to be one of the nicest original interior mid-years I have ever encountered. PERIOD.

The undercarriage is 100% original and unmolested. The frame and metalwork are indicative of a well cared for garaged “every day of its life” vehicle that has probably never seen rain in the last 30-35 years, maybe longer. The surfaces have light coloration from age but are all rock solid.

Almost everyone in the Corvette world realizes there is nothing quite like the ride and feel of a NEVER bodied-off restoration. Mechanically this Corvette stacks up to the finest you will ever find. The engine and transmission work and feel like a brand new 1967 Corvette would have felt in 1967. What could be better than that.

Honestly, I would buy another set of original style wheels and strap a set of radials on them and go drive this car. I would have some fun with it as these cars should be driven to be properly maintained.

The car simply needs NOTHING…. everything works from the radio to the blinkers to the rotating headlights.

The documentation and two binders of awards and history come with the car. There are closeup pictures in one binder of every single number on the car as well as bolt closeups to show that nothing has ever been changed out. I took pictures of the pictures so you will have to pull them up on my Photobucket if you would like to blow them up for closer inspection.

In January of 2017 at Mecum Kissimmee a Black/Blue 435 Convertible sold for $775K.

In May at the Mecum Indy Auction a very similar 8533 miles 67 435 Coupe hammered sold at $675K.

Also at Mecum Indy a 1967 Black 435 Convertible “Benchmark” sold for $341K.

If you are a purist of purist, this exceptionally original and standup survivor that can show with the nicest cars in Corvettendom. This trophy magnet may just check all your boxes for an amazing investment grade collectable.

This little two-top roadster is the kind of master piece to be added to your collection if indeed you have a penchant for low mile survivors. You would be hard pressed to find a more solid, original and wonderful driving vehicle than this example in 427/435 livery.
These rare survivor cars are getting harder and harder to find. A Survivor like this one is much like an historical document. Cars like this tell a story of its construction, ownership and care. The restoration process, while sometimes stunning, erases the originality and authenticity, and is just another “done” car. These Survivor Corvettes are special and this one is AS GOOD AS IT GETS!!!

I am not the owner of this car. The owner is a good friend of mine and his number will be made available to all serious buyers. I have been around Corvettes for over 40 years and have restored and personally collected over 20 midyear Corvettes. I have judged at many Corvette venues over the last 25 years and am particularly adept in Survivor/Preservation Class automobiles and the forensics of such. Feel free to call me at anytime regarding anything you would like to know further about this car. If you are in Southern California, take the opportunity to see this wonderful specimen in person. Call Frank at 949-310-6262. We are open to offers up to 12 hours before the auction ends.
