Chevrolet G20 Van 1965 Description
For your consideration is my gorgeous 1965 Chevy G-10 Sportvan. The engine is the original inline 230 cubic inch six-cylinder, with the original 3-spd manual transmission on the column. The van runs well, but could always run a little better. This is the only area where it needs much attention. It has recently developed a water pump knock, and I haven't been driving it much, because of that. I had intended to replace or rebuild the motor, if it ever failed. I bought this van from Texas, and it was 99 percent rust free. I have before and during pics available, if you'd like to see them. I've included as many photos as I am allowed, so that you can see the extensive amount of labor that has gone into preserving this rolling piece of art for another 53 years. Everything has been gone over and replaced with new. The rust free interior floor was cleaned, and coated with POR 15 rust coating. I then cut a custom 1/2" thick rubber mat for the cargo floor area of the van. The front passenger area was covered in rubber utility mat, and fitted with new rubber floor mats. The interior walls were sealed and painted, then insulated with thick, heat barrier insulation. Then, I cut custom panels from brand new 1/8" hardboard, and covered them with heavy duty marine vinyl, in a classic tuck and roll pattern. Custom bucket seats with slip on tuck and roll seat covers, were installed. The dash was painted a nice semi-gloss black, to match the rest of the interior. The original headliner is still fitted, and was dyed black to match. The dash holds the original Delco all-transistor AM radio (not currently working, but did when I got it) The original exterior paint had been sanded by the previous owner for an old brushed on hippie mural. So, the van was wet sanded down to the original finish, primed, and painted this beautiful custom mixed flat mint green by PPG. The top was done in a nice matte white, also mixed by PPG. No body work was done, as the body was in such great condition, already. The windshield is brand new, as well as the seal. The driver's side window is brand new, the window belt line seals, as well as the window track rubbers are brand new. The vent wing seals, and the divider bar seals have also been replaced with new. The headlights, dash lights, brake and tail lights work properly. The turn signal switch was replaced with a brand new one, just last week. The Sure Trac whitewall tires are brand new, and have zero miles on them. They are fitted to original Ansen aluminum slot wheels, with vintage American Racing center caps. Brakes were completely rebuilt including turned original finned drums, new brake hardware, new brake shoes, 4 new wheel cylinders, new rubber brake hoses, and new master cylinder. All parts were cleaned and properly painted as they were rebuilt and replaced. Front and rear bumpers were missing when I purchased the van. Custom tube bumpers were hand fabricated just for this van. They are extremely durable, and look very nice on the van. Better than stock, in my opinion. Belly pan was removed for pics, but is included with the van. Roof rack is installed with quick clamps, so that it is easily removable, in minutes. Rack is constructed of cedar wood. Surfboard is included, and is a custom Gordon Smith 9' professional longboard, ready for the water. Please, look at all photos, as they are the biggest part of the description. Title is clear and in my name. I have shipped automobiles all over the world, and am happy to help the new owner in any way I can. Please, ask all questions before bidding. I am positive the new owner will not be disappointed.
