Chevrolet Other Pickups 1954 Description

The Black Pearl

I present to you “The Black Pearl”, the truck version of the pirate ship in “Pirates of the Caribbean”. It is a 1954 Chevy 3100 truck frame swap. It sits on a 1983 Chevy S-10 frame with engineered body mounts, independent front suspension and front disc brakes. I’ve been building this truck for several years and it pains me to have to sell it, but some other things need my attention. This low rider is a blast to drive and corners very well at high speeds with very little body roll. It has a 1995 Chevy 350 crate motor built in GM’s Mexico Plant. The engine has a 650CFM Holley Street Avenger carb and an Edelbrock air flow intake manifold. New HEI distributor and spark plug wires. It has an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. The transmission is a Turbo 350 that was rebuilt last year by JW performance transmission of Rockledge, Florida. The two piece driveshaft has all new u-joints and was restored by Rank Performance of Melbourne Florida. The rear end is from a 1982 RS Camaro with an IROQ Z Camaro limited slip posi-traction differential. The engine runs great but probably could have the timing set with a timing light as I tuned by ear.

The exhaust is custom side pipes with Thrush glass packs inside, the truck is loud but not too loud, no headers just stock manifold, which I prefer.

The body is rough but solid. There is some bondo and fiber glass on the cab corners and the driver side rear fender. There is rust in several spots. This is not a show car but it is an awesome street rod. It has the potential to be a show car if that’s what you want.

The wood in the bed is cedar; the custom wood rack is for a longboard surfboard and the pirate’s chest houses the fuel tank, which is a ten gallon boat tank. The first fuel tank I put in was from a VW, but it rusted out during the build, I left it in place because it looks good from the back..

Electrical is a complete Painless wiring harness and all electrical items are working as they should. I mounted the fuse panel and the battery on the fire wall in the engine compartment for easy access. The driver’s seat is power adjustable and the visors are both lighted and mirrored. It has a decent CD player stereo but needs a new antenna for better radio reception; it also has a working remote.

It sports the S-10 power steering and steering column that has light switch, brights and blinkers and the column is adjustable. The horn also works.

The interior is out of a Buick Le Sabre and is velour including the door panels I made from the Le Sabre’s back seat.

The wheels are by Pace and the tires are probably ready to be replaced.

The truck has a new battery, new starter, and new front shocks.

There are a few items of note: The emergency brake is not hooked up, there is a small hole in the windshield that leaks, all the windows are original glass and show there age. The driver and passenger window shake but I just use rubber wedges to stop that. Also, you cannot haul a load in the bed, except a surfboard. You will groove the tires if you haul a load. The mileage is not accurate as that is the mileage after I hooked up the digital speedometer. No AC or heater. Slow leak at rear pinion seal, $75.00 repair. Windshield wipers don't work, probably just needs vacuum hose and wiper blades. No hood hinges, hood has post support in engine compartment.

Truck sold as is with no warranty, express or implied.

Have fun viewing the pictures of this one of a kind hotrod. This truck gets the looks, people have even asked me to pull over and let them check it out. One day a mechanic pulled up next to me and said that thing sits perfect. The stance of the truck was created by the engineered body mounts. Good luck, I want this truck to end up in capable mechanical hands and with someone who loves to drive this sinister ride at night…

I am willing to help coordinate shipping this truck through your hauler.
