Chevrolet Camaro 1968 Description
HI. This is a hard to believe 50 year old car that runs and drives as good as it looks. a friend of mine, a local attorney, has owned this Camaro for more than forty years. real story, he's had thissince high-school age and has stored the car majority of the time with one or two other vehicles of interest.
Time to let it go he says. it is a 1968 Chevy Camaro exactly as shown and described the odometer reads 68,000 miles and I have no reason to doubt it. the engine is a V8 and may be a 350 crate motor from the 80's. the tranny is a four speed. the brakes are power front disc. I don't know about the differential, but I'm told its a 8.75 rear. you have to be the expert here.
The paint color is original but second time around. I can see a bit of overspray in areas you would expect, but its a very decent job done years ago and shows no defects or issues.
Interior seems to be all bone stock and original. the radio is aftermarket cassette and not working. vinyl in good shape but acouple of wear cracks in seat surface. door panels seem ok. headliner fine overall and the interior is intact. the cigarettelighter is original and not working. the wipers and motor work but the dash control is faulty. carpets are great shape. glass is all good. no signs of leaks. doors shut soundly and no sag. seats are comfortable. this car is clean and no odors, no musty smell, noburns or dirt.
Body is just great. no dents, scratches, rust or damage. please see all photos. I took agood look underneath and a couple of photos. amazingly clean, corrosion free, solid and original. this is an old car and not perfect, but Ijust see no signs of damage, repairs or funny business. the gas tank appears to have been painted or treated with a rubberized paint compound, but maybe that's just the way they came.the trunk is absolutely free of rust. please see photos. but, this is a repaint car, there may a repaired dent or scratch but nothing has yet come light.
Front brakes have recently been repaired with new pads and rotors. the battery is fresh. the exhaust is newer through to and with muffler. this Chevy was just serviced after lengthy storage and the carb was dealt with, new gas, newignition items, etc. choke cable leading to carb is disconnected, no bad effect.
Car runs and drives well, a pleasure to run around town or at 70MPH on the road. drives like it should. going down the street or highway as smooth riding as can be, no knocks, thumps, squeaks or creaks. solid. steering is light and effortless, brakes are fine, clutch grabs strong and pulls. I would recommend fresh tires and an alignment. fluids are good, no visible leaks or drips, motors runs cool and steady, do not need to add oil regularand the motor does not smoke. I do hear what, back in the day, I would call light lifter or tappet noise at idle, but I have to listen closely. likely as not car just needs to be driven some. does not annoy or alarm me especially a car stored for lengthy time and this age.
I have documents in hand showing current CT stateDMV registration, valid plates, current insurance and all issued items dating back 40 years. same car, same owner, etc. Please see all photos. CT does not require titles on 20 year old cars and beyond. out of state bidders are encouraged to buy.the CTMotor Vehicle Departmentofferstitle assurance and acceptance letters to back that up if you live out of state.
Please be advised or keep in mind I'm giving the best description I can, but I am not a vintage car enthusiast or expert. I do have 30 plus years in and around cars, have known these GM cars since I was a kid and am presently employed at a new car store in the capacity of office manager. I walk through the shop every day, deal with repairs, parts, labor issues, etc. any question you have, I can likely help. but, simply see all photos and use your judgement. the owner is not a pro either, this is just a straight sale to the lucky buyer at a fair price. no scams, no hustles, no bull. private party sale.
I can help with shipping and transport, paperwork, plates or tags and delivery. CT offers 30 day temporary tags to out of state buyers. bid, buy and drive this Camaro home.
The car is parked and stored at my house, exactly as shown.
I am LOCATED IN FAIRFIELD/BRIDGEPORT, CT, 06604. WE ARE AT EXIT #24 OFF I-95, ABOUT 45 NORTH NEW YORK CITY. JUST OFF THE HIGHWAY AND ALONG ROUTE #1, BOSTON POST ROAD.
