Chevrolet Impala 1969 Description

This Canadian built 1969 Chevrolet Impala Convertible has its original 327 ci. V8 with automatic transmission, and is showing just over 94,000 original miles. It was bought new by the current owners father and has always remained in the family.
The car is very complete, and it runs, drives and handles well. Routine maintenance and mechanical work has been done to the car over the years as required to keep it in good roadworthy condition, including an engine rebuild, front end and brakes, with receipts having been retained.
This convertible is a driver that could be enjoyed right away as is, or restored to enhance its appeal and value.

This listing provides many more details as you scroll thru. Near the end of this listing under Payment Terms you will find a link to a photo album of over 120 pics.

The 327 ci. V8 engine was fully rebuilt years ago and still runs and sounds good. It starts easily, does not smoke, and uses no oil between changes.
Apart from having installed a chrome air cleaner and valve covers, all mechanical components on and around the engine appear as correct original equipment and are in good operable condition. The original air cleaner and valve covers were retained and will go with the car.

The 3-speed automatic transmission shifts as it should, but does show signs of leaking. A transmission cooler has been added ahead of the rad.

The undercarriage is essentially original and unrestored. The frame is in very solid condition and shows no evidence of collision damage.
The car is equipped with power steering and power brakes.
New front end center link and lower ball joints were installed about 20K miles ago.
Brake system work done in the last thousand miles included a new master cylinder, 2 new wheel cylinders, new shoes and axle seals. This work is also supported by receipts.

New shock absorbers evident all around with coil-overs on the back.
The exhaust system is in good condition and gives the car a nice throaty rumble.
There are no dents in the gas tank.

The car rides on Good Year P205/75-R14 radials in very good condition with lots of tread remaining. They are mounted on original rims with wire hubcaps. The spare is an older non-matching bias ply snow tire.

The car has had previous amateur bodywork and one repaint done in 1991. Although many years have passed since, it does not show any signs of failing repairs or rust issues. It does however show the signs of amateur work as there are some wavy panels and poor prep work evident.
Although the car looks good from 20 ft. away, it will need to have body and paint redone in order to be real nice. There is no evidence of collision damage.

The floor pans appear very solid, as do the body mounts and the trunk pan.
The front fenders, both rocker panels, and the quarter panels also appear to be solid with no rust or blisters evident.
The bottoms of the doors are very solid, and there is no rust or swelling of the flanges along the lower inner lips of the doors or trunk lid. It would appear that the car did not have any major rust issues.
The driver door could use some adjustment to achieve better alignment and gaps.

The 26 year old paint job shows the usual scratches and chips of its years and mileage, but it still has a good shine. There are some minor pings in the hood.

The red interior of the car is in mostly original condition but the front seat received new covers in 1991 which are a very good match to the rest of the interior.
The door panels and arm rests are in very nice condition, as are the rear side panels and rear seat.
Equipped with seat belts for 6 passengers.

The dash pad is also very nice with no cracks evident, but it does have one minor cigarette burn along the top edge above the radio. The visors are nice.
The steering wheel has 3 cracks.
Original carpets are soiled but not torn or frayed.
The pedal pad for the e-brake has come off but is with the car.

The shaded windshield has a crack, but all other glass is clear and in is good condition.
The left quarter window could use minor adjustment.

The top was replaced in 1991 and is in good condition. It has a glass rear window also in good condition. The top goes up and down with no problems and all latches are working and not broken. When lowered it lays nice and flat.
The boot cover is not torn and is a tight fit to get all snaps done up.

Door and trunk weather-strips are original and mostly range from fair to poor condition.
The trunk has a light and the original jack is there, but no trunk mat or carpet.

The battery is new. Wiring on the car is original and in good serviceable condition.
The fuel gauge works and there is no clock. After-market temperature and oil pressure gauges have been added under dash, but only the temp gauge is operational.
The original AM radio works but is no longer wired in. An AM/FM cassette player is also mounted under dash with a couple of speakers.

The grille is nice and straight with no damage. All other chrome and stainless trim and emblems are there and in original condition.
The bumpers are straight and have good shine, but there is some blistering on the lower right of the rear bumper, but no rust out.
Tail light plastic lenses are intact originals, the right center one is damaged.

Original literature includes Owner’s and Service Manuals. There are also some spare tune-up parts.
If you are considering a late 60’s Chevy convertible to drive right away, something to tinker with, or a cruiser to restore, this may be it!
You won’t be spending years or tons of money trying to find missing parts, performing extensive rust repairs, major mechanical restoration, or interior re-upholstering.

The owner bought this car from his father several years ago, but since he has had little time to enjoy it he has now decided to make it available.

Placing a bid to simply uncover the reserve price, or how high another buyer has bid, and then retracting or cancelling the bid is not allowed as it violates Ebay’s Invalid Bid Retraction Policy.
Such bids are considered as ‘Unwelcome and Malicious Bidding’ as they contravene the seller requirements stipulated above, that you only bid with the intent to buy, and that you do not bid without the intent of concluding the transaction.
Such bids are not in the spirit of a reserve auction. They ruin the experience for serious buyers and sellers, can cast doubt on the process and subject vehicle, and are a nuisance to the seller in general.
Ebay rules stipulate, if you retract a bid for reason of ‘entered wrong amount’, you must re-enter your correct bid amount right away, and that changing your mind does not qualify as entering wrong amount.
If you retract your bid as ‘wrong amount’ and fail to re-enter your correct amount, your bid will be considered ‘unwelcome and malicious’ and it will be immediately reported to Ebay, and they will investigate, and you will be placed on a blocked bidders list.
