Chevrolet Cavalier 1992 Description
Here's a good, affordable convertible starter car or drive as you go and enjoy this summer with the top down project for someone, a 1992 Chevy Cavalier Z24 convertible that my wife and I have owned for over 15 years and are selling as we are now both retired and don't need as many cars. Have the original window sticker which shows the car sold brand new for over $20,000. Always maintained and still has plenty of power and life in her. Car needs to be driven and enjoyed more than anything as it has seen little driving the last couple years. Looks great from 10 feet but needs attention to be really nice, has plenty of potential and gets lots of compliments. Structurally sound. Drivetrain is fine even though mileage is up there- 119,840- as anyone into these cars knows the 3.1 they can go well over 200,000 miles and still be fine. Oil and filter, AC Delco, as well as transmission filter and fluid always kept up, trans fluid is still cherry red and it works great. Motor does not burn oil, runs very strong but has a fickle ide sometimes at a light after warming up, needs the computer idle learn set as I put a new battery and alternator in it 1 year ago and never did it. Barring judgment and by no means recommending this type of driving to anyone, over the years past I have had this car up to 105 mph and it will take a Mustang or Camaro off the line but loses in the stretch. Many new parts over the years to keep it going, new ignition module, coils and wires, new front struts and shocks, recently a brand new galvanized gas tank as old one started to leak and a new fuel filter installed. Cruise control works beautifully. Wipers and squirters work as they should. Antifreeze fresh and Power Steering fluid flushed and clean. All lights and signals work, I hooked the auxiliary cooling fan up to a toggle switch under the dash when the relay went bad, I believe they can still be bought from a Chevy Dealership but I liked the manual way personally. All gauges work. Horn works fine. AC works with a charge but has a quick leak. New serpentine belt so OK there. AM/FM radio with optional cassette player works fine with no speaker issues. Interior is decent for it's age, has a split on the driver's side seat edge. We have tried to keep it garaged as much as possible but if it sits outside in heavy rain the driver's side floor section will get damp. Top has seen better days, repaired much but does not leak and goes up and down fine by factory switch. Top boot is very nice and original to the car. The two front power windows go up and down slowly but do work with some help and the back two are fine. Power door locks and rear defogger will work but I removed the fuse because I didn't like the feature where the door locks kicked in when the transmission was put in gear, a factory feature. That's up to the new owner if you want that operating. Non- smoker owned vehicle. Body is good, not perfect, very presentable with some minor rust and work done here and there, very well undercoated for longevity and all brake and fuel lines safe and coated. For the person with serious interest in the Cavalier I can send about 4 pictures through the Ebay mail system of the areas of rust that show it's nothing major, I can only load 24 in the listing. Front tires, Goodyears, have less than 1,000 miles on them but rear ones could be replaced, getting kind of dry. There is a good spare tire mounted on a matching Z24 full sized aluminum alloy 15" rim in the trunk as well as the original donut spare in the well along with the jack. Brakes are fine although ABS light has been on and has just regular brakes which work fine, this is a common early year ABS problem. Does not affect the function of the brakes which work good. This car is going to be a Historical vehicle in 6 months and passed the E-check for the year but I removed the catalytic converter and put in a straight pipe for better breathing, makes the car rumble, too. The converter has been saved and goes with the car if you have to or want to put it back on and the passed E-check sheet goes along, too and can be re-used if you're an Ohio buyer to get your plates then in next January just get your Historical plates and no more E-Checks. Original owner's manual is in the glove box and a GM 1992 Cavalier Service Manual goes with the car as well for those who like to do their own work. Also going with this car will my extra 1992 Cavalier Convertible parts, boxes, top cylinders, top motor, good radiator, etc. 2 sets of keys are included, one set which is original. Overall the good outweighs the bad and can be improved upon with some TLC with this future classic Chevy convertible. I have described this vehicle to the best of my ability but please feel free to contact me and ask any questions and view the pictures carefully as they are part of the description, especially before buying. A $500 non-refundable Pay Pal deposit is due upon sale with the balance being due within 1 week via bank wire transfer or cash at pick up. I will accept full payment via Pay Pal as long as you pay the tacked on 3% fee. This used vehicle is being sold AS IS with no guarantees, warrantees or returns. We are located 15 miles east of Cleveland, Ohio with easy access off of State Rt. 90 and with my experience with the car it could be driven with confidence if need be if it's a reasonable distance. Buyer is responsible for pick up and/or shipping. I know of a reliable transportation company that I can recommend if you decide to have the car shipped. Prior viewing and or inspection is both welcome and recommended. Title is clear and in both of our names, the Car Fax will show the change where we did this, it was originally just in my name. We are the second owners if you don't count the car lot we purchased it from in March of 2001. It will be notarized with a Bill of Sale included as well. I reserve the right to end this listing at any time as this car is also advertised locally. No trades. Thanks much for looking and hope this fun car finds a good home!
