Chevrolet Chevelle 1966 Description

This car was a garage find. It sat untouched (read: buried) in a garage for over a decade. Upon receiving the car I had the intention of restoring it for personal use. I had no idea how "cool" this car is to people who like old cars. I have since learned that not only is it a really cool car, but it is way too cool for me. I am hoping that whoever purchases it will treat it with the respect and care it deserves. In my care it would probably sit outside, un-driven, and under appreciated.

She starts right up every time and sounds great. I am including a link to a video of the car being started up so you can hear it run.

here you go:

  • TH400 3 Speed automatic transmission with ratchedy shifter thing.
  • Brand new 15 gallon (stainless steel?)fuel tank in the trunk with new fuel lines. (I have never felt so cool as when i am getting gas in this thing and i have to pop the trunk.) The last fuel tank (also in the trunk).
  • I am also including a Holley EFI kit which can make the car fuel injected. (see pictures) which the previous owner purchased and left in the trunk unopened.
  • New wires, cap, rotor, water pump.
  • Newer Wiring Harness front to back.
  • Replaced instrument cluster, speedometer and sending unit. Clock doesn't work (i guess that's a common problem?
  • New heater core/heater box.
  • New radiator and clutch fan.
  • Recently rebuilt 4 bbl Holley carburetor.
  • Glass is in good condition.
  • New rear bumper.
  • Good tires.
  • Interior is in great shape for its age.
  • And several additional parts that came with the car which are included with the auction. They look to be replacement parts or parts that still need to be installed.

The drum brakes take some getting used too and should upgraded soon. There is no power steering or Air Conditioning (Sorry ladies) and gets hot as hell in the summer with that black interior. The inner glove box is missing. There is no radio. Apparently does not have the original steering wheel. There is no parking brake (which turns out I often take for granted in other cars.) Non original 396 believed to be a 1969 block.

Although presentable, the paint and body is in need of considerable attention. There are several flaws in the paint where chipping and peeling revealing the original color (light blue maybe? - see pics).  Please note that there are several small dents in the exterior - the last owner apparently considered black spray to be part of a vehicles routine maintenance. There is the typical rust around rear window, small patches of rust along the rear wheel well edges. The floors and the trunk appear to be solid and rust free. Oddly there are no seat belts of any kind in the car, Im not sure why they would take them out but you may want to consider installing them. Also, it appears to drip a small amount of transmission fluid after being driven for a considerable amount of time. I have not been able to locate the leaks exact origin but the transmission shifts through all the gears as it should. I haven't quite figured out how to work the shifter knob yet but someone far smarter than I stated that it works as expected but is missing a few of the exterior plastic pieces so there is no visible indication of which gear you are currently in. I was also told that it is geared for "low-end" speed which is apparently good for drag racing. However, I do not recommend taking this car on a long distance drive until that can be adjusted, as it is set up now it is really loud and uses tons of gas so please consider using a vehicle hauler service which I am happy to help facilitate.

I am doing a no reserve 7 day auction and the highest bidder will take it. There is a $1000 non-refundable deposit due upon auction close to secure your purchase. The remaining balance may be paid as cash in person, cash deposit into a bank acct, verifiable cashier's check, or mutually acceptable escrow service (please contact me before bidding if you have any questions regarding acceptable methods of payment).

Regardless of the method, the car must be paid for in full before I can release it. And I have a clean and clear colorado title in hand. I would advise you to view the vehicle in person as some pictures do not accurately display condition. While i am happy to accommodate as far as my schedule will allow, utimately the buyer is responsible for making the arrangements for vehicle delivery.

Please contact me if you would like pictures of something specific on the car or if you have any questions that I can answer for you. Thank you.Vince 3037485757. PS I will not end the auction early so please do not call and ask. highest bidder takes it, period. its the only fair thing to do.
