Chevrolet Corvette 1978 Description
Last February. 2014. I came across this 1978 Corvette Silver Anniversary Edition. It was white and it needed some body and interior work. I purchased it from the son of the original owner (owner passed away) and it had not been driven in quite a while. I decided to restore it for my wife and daughter. Now I’m about to be a grandfather and my wife wants a Suburban! The interior is new and I put it back nearly factory stock – I even left the original AM/FM radio (doesn’t function). I did go with all leather seats and I even incorporated heated seats into the seat bottoms and backs as I installed the new leather. Everything functions as it should – well I didn’t fool with the clock. The new functioning stereo is in the glove box. has the ability to connect XM (antenna installed) and has blue-tooth for phone and audio. The factory T-tops (metallic & transparent) are included (an expensive option) and they are in great condition. There new dash speakers fit into the original location but they are upgraded. I built a modest speaker panel for the rear with high-end 6 X 9’s in it – sounds great!. The carpet. shift boot. console cover. and steering wheel are all new and stock. If you want a new looking original C3 that is fun to drive. this is it. Outside the seams have all been worked. re-glassed and gel coated. The body is in EXCELLENT shape. I painted the car “Pull Me Over Red” the 2014 Camaro color because my wife and I liked it. The paint is PPG base-clear. All the decals & badges are New-Old-Stock. All the weatherstripping is new. The previous owner had just spent $2. 00 having the engine overhauled. He told me the heads were worked and it had new rings and bearings. There is a new heavy duty radiator. new A/C compressor. new alternator. new belts. hoses. and Interstate battery. The engine runs very strong and the transmission (3 speed automatic) shifts as it should. The car runs and drives awesome. but come see that for yourself. Of course the car has not been smoked in and it is pet-free. I have the car for sale locally so I may cancel this auction if it sells. The Pros:I'm going to speak 'Southern' here. it runs like a scalded dawg! It just goes and goes. then there is more go! It is fun to drive. New A/C Compressor. Dryer. Orifice tube. New AlternatorNew heavy duty radiator & hosesNew fan & fan clutchVacuum lines replacedHeadlight assemblies rebuilt with new springs & bushingsFront and rear bumpers are new fiberglass typeTaillight & backup light lenses are newWheel hubs are NOSDecals and badges are newWeatherstripping is newRear compartment frame and lids are newBody is just near perfect – no cracks. dings. etcThe ConsSmall power steering fluid leak – coming from cylinder I believeSeep from transmission – though I’ve replaced the shift bushing sealSeep at engine rear main – easy to replace. I just haven’tSometimes A/C is slow to change from dash to floor to defrost. I suspect this is in the control unitOne turn signal light out in dash cluster. signals all work outside carTurn signal doesn’t cancel on left turn – adjustment in columnDriver's power window is a little sluggish. The window motor is new. There is actually a pop weld broken in the window track. I have a new (NOS) window track but have not taken the trouble to install it yet. It will go with the car. Clock doesn’t workThat is about it…I want you to be very happy with this car if you buy it. It is not a brand new car and I don't represent it as one. It is as fine an example of a C3 - with some modern upgrades - that you'll find. with a few little issues to be corrected (or lived with). I'm comfortable driving it anywhere. it is very dependable. Feel free to call or text Scott at 478-397-0060 if you have questions. I’ll accept $500 by PayPal within 24 hours of you buying the car and I’ll need the rest in cash within 7 days when you pick it up. If you want to make any other arrangements please call me before you buy. I live 100 miles South of the Atlanta Hartsfield Airport.
