Originally purchased by Mabel on 11-24-1967 from S&K Chevrolet of Vallejo, CA. Second owner, another Vallejo resident, purchased from Mabel in 1989. Vehicle currently resides in Santa Rosa, CA with the second owner.
Seat belts were not legally required in rear automobile seats until 1968. This car, built in 1967, does have rear seat belts but they are from a 1967 Chevy (factory installed). They were left under the rear seat and not discovered until the mid 90's.
The car was restored int he mid 90's and painted 1992 medium imron Corvette blue. The original color is Goldenleaf Green.
The engine was rebuilt around 100k miles at only .010" over so it could easily be rebuilt again. The automatic transmission was rebuilt a little after that. The front end has been rebuilt with less than 15k miles on it. The dual exhaust, modeled after the 327 exhaust with crossovers of the same year, have less than 5k miles on them. There is a new fuel pump and starter just installed. The gas tank has less than 1K miles on it. The trunk pan has been restored. The front & rear bumpers have good chrome. Garaged for much, but not all of its life.
There is the typical rust these cars show at the corners of the rear window/trunk area as well as below the studs that hold on the SS trim for the vinyl roof.
Interior is mostly original. The front seat has a repro cover on it and the dash is a repro. I believe everything else inside is original, including the headliner.
In the restored trunk is a number of related items including plugs, distributor cap, an NOS battery tray, Restored trim for the front fenders, an oversized 2 page magazine advertisement for 1968 Chevy's (Color on the Chevelle pictured is the original color of the car.
The car was in the middle of some TLC when the carb backfired and started a small fire near the firewall. Some wires need replacing, spark plug wires, the windshield wiper motor assembly (easy to find on Ebay). Ran like a top and sounded good with is Flowmasters. Will need a little bit more TLC to get running again.
The original snorkel air cleaner IS included with the car although it is not pictured (to better see the engine compartment).
I took a photo of the VIN but it came out fuzzy so I'm not 100% sure it is correct: 136378z115618
I'm moving, have two young kids and a spine that would be bad for an 80 year old so I've decided it is time for someone more spry with more time to enjoy this car.
** The story of the original owner adds something interesting to this car. BUT, the story is very personal that the family did not wish to have spread. In respecting their original wishes, the short but interesting history will be divulged to the new owner ONLY. Please don't ask unless you are the new owner. Please DO ask any other questions you may have BEFORE bidding on this car.
Some info I found on S&K Chevrolet from the internet:
"S&K Chevrolet changed names a few times over time. For years it was located at 850 Redwood St. The current name is Team Chevrolet and it has recently moved from Redwood St out to an auto mall along I-80. 707-648-8170/707-643-9000"
I am not currently located where the car is. Pick up is appreciated on July 6th or 7th since I will be back in town then, but it is not required. If those dates don't work for you please email me to set up a time/date that works for us both.
$500 deposit via eBay/Paypal. I will accept cash or USPS money order for the remainder.
Thank You for Looking & Good Luck! Happy July 4th!!
