Dodge Challenger 1970 Description

1970 Dodge Challenger R/T (JS23N0B) rotisserie restored440 4-bbl. (was factory 383), auto, factory FC7 Plum Crazy car, real R/T not a clone, factory black vinyl top, power disc brakes with cross drilled slotted rotors, power steering, factory console, factory bucket seats, 8 ¾ rear end and 3.23 posi diff., original fender tag and door VIN decal, Rallye cluster with factory correct 8K tach, correct Challenger full exhaust with factory tips, 15x7 Rallye wheels with BFG tires, factory chrome LH and RH mirrors, front sway bar, black hood stripe and correct R/T trunk stripe.

The Challenger was completely rotisserie restored from top to bottom and looks absolutely incredible! The stunning high gloss FC7 Plum Crazy Purple base/clear paint is the correct factory color. The Challenger was rotisserie restored in 2014/2015 from top to bottom and I just finished some small details on this incredible restoration. All of the sequential body numbers match on the radiator support, hood/cowl area, VIN tag, original fender tag and door VIN decal. You must check these numbers to authenticate that it is a real R/T Challenger. This is an absolutely beautiful car and one of the nicest factory R/T’s you will find with this type of high caliber rotisserie restoration, correct factory color FC7 and be restored original. When doing a restoration of this caliber it takes a lot of time, patience and money to be done correctly. Please understand this is not your average “driver” condition 1970 Challenger R/T!!!

PAINT AND BODY

The body is in excellent shape and the panels are very straight with excellent seems and panel fit. The super high-gloss deep clear coat shine was just professionally wet sanded with 1500, 2000 and 2500 grit paper to achieve the high caliber ultra shine finish. This long process alone took over 40 hours and the finish shows it! The sheet metal is in excellent shape with new quarters, new trunk extensions, trunk floor and floor pans being replaced. The Challenger was painted about 2 years ago with base coat/clear coat and is in unbelievable condition… it has that deep wet look shine! It was done in a full rotisserie and completely disassembled to a shell. If you think it looks good in the photos you need to see it in person! The paint in all the door jams, trunk, inner fenders and complete undercarriage looks fantastic. Even the front and rear wheel wells are painted as well as the insides of the front fenders! I am very critical on paint and have been restoring Mopars for more than 25 years. There are no scratches, dents or paint blisters. The underside of the trunk lid and hood are also in excellent stunning condition. The doors open and close excellent with the ease of a finger and even the door latches and strikers were cleaned and polished. Please call me at 412-496-1439 and I will be happy to discuss all the details! Thanks!!!

GLASS, CHROME AND TRIM

The glass is in very good condition with only a few very minor marks. The front windshield is new and in excellent shape. The original Chrysler side and rear glass is in very nice condition and only has a few very minor scratches. All windows and locks operate as should. The front bumper and rear bumpers are rechromed and look excellent. The window trim is very clean and was polished for optimum shine. The original grill was restored and looks great. Some new items are the emblems, mirrors, taillight chrome trim bezels, trunk trim pieces, side markers, fender mount turn signals, flip up gas cap and all weatherstripping.

INTERIOR

The interior was completely re-done top to bottom including a new headliner, Legendary seat covers and seat foam, carpet, speaker shelf, trunk divider, sill plates, restored console and rallye cluster, dash wood grain, door panels, kick panels, pillar moldings, dash pad and restored dash frame. All factory gauges work and operate correctly. I just added an autometer eletronic temperature gauge for accuracy as the factory one works but reads high. The Challenger runs a perfect 180 to 185 when driving and gets to 195 if sitting still for a long period of time. The clock was also redone and works perfect. All lighting works as should including the high/low beams, dome light, tail lights, parking lights, turn signals, four-way flashers and license plate light. The factory AM radio also works. The E-brake, defrosters, heater, fan, horn, speedometer and dimmer switch work as should.

DRIVE TRAIN / SUSPENSION

The strong running 440 4bbl makes excellent power and runs great. The 727 automatic transmission shifts beautiful and is absolutely awesome and a blast to drive. The Challenger has power steering and power disc brakes so driving is easy and has all new front/rear suspension parts and new front-end alignment! The previous owner told me the 440 had some minor work done, but is very close to stock. The Challenger has excellent drivability and cools well even in stop and go traffic. It has a 4-core heavy duty 22” aluminum radiator with fan shroud that fit perfect. The restored 8 ¾ rear end has a 3.23 clutch type posi differential (741 case #) and 3.23 diff tag. This excellent drive train combo runs and drives awesome in all conditions whether highway or city driving. The 440 has a casting date of 5-13-71 and engine casting # is 2536430-5. It is topped of with a factory cast iron intake (2806178), correct HP manifolds and has a brand new Edelbrock series 750 cfm carb (#1411) with electric choke. I only use the Brad Penn High Performance oil, which was changed and is ready to go! It is one of the best oils on the market and already has the higher Zinc added in for older cars. The new factory correct Challenger exhaust with chrome tips and factory HP exhaust manifolds looks and sounds absolutely perfect. This is a very tight and excellent smooth running and driving 440 R/T Challenger! This R/T sets itself apart from others with being a factory big block real R/T car, a very factory correct restoration and being fully rotisserie restored from top to bottom! Please look at the photos closely to see the amount of detail work that was done! Even the undercarriage of the Challenger is unbelievably clean and one of the best I’ve ever seen!!!

I typically restore and finish around 10 Mopars a year and have been working on them for more than 25 years. I do every one as if it were my own to keep. I put a lot of time, effort, pride and money in the cars I offer for sale which is evident when viewing one of my cars compared to others for sale. This is one of the few cars you can view in person and say that it is actually nicer than the photos.
