Dodge Other Pickups 1949 Description

You are bidding on a rare Dodge woody. At age 73 I have never seen another in person, nd only have knowledge of 6 others through the internet. It is a one-owner vehicle. Appraisal for insurance was done in May of 2015, nd the value was set at $40,000. It is currently insured through Hagerty Insurance Co. and has a current license issued by the state of Georgia. Thanks for looking and Good Luck.
HISTORY: Very rare model Dodge (I believe less than 10 in the country. Based on a 1/2 ton B-1-B Pickup chassis, t was manufactured by Dodge in Detroit in 1948, he wooden body was then added by Campbell Mid-State Body of Waterloo, Y(Body Serial # 20600, nd the vehicle sold in January 1949. It was originally, nd has always been titled as a 1949. It was purchased new, y my Dad, nd was driven by him until 1987. The total mileage is unknown. It was then placed in storage in my garage and I inherited it when he passed in 1997. It remained undisturbed until 2011 when I finally retired, nd a "restoration" was started.WHATS DONE: The brake system was rebuilt, nbsp;using new parts, nbsp;all wiring was removed and replaced (using a diagram from the PilotHouse Forum). Starting at the roof, hich was rotten, he wood was all disassembled and removed down to the frame. Then it was reassembled with the damaged sections of wood being replaced. The replacement was done by me, nd is a decent job, ut not perfect. Some wood had already been replaced back in the 1960's, nbsp;and work was done to make this a useable vehicle, ot a show car. The roof surface is a water-proofed canvas, hich I believe matches the original. The heater core leaked and it was removed and replaced with a completely new core. The running boards were rust damaged and I replaced them with wooden boards. The vehicle runs and drives, he clutch works well and it shifts fine (note: 1st gear is not synchromesh). Id does need a good mechanical service. The gas tank is leak free, nd there are no leaks other the the seals noted below.
TO DO: Both the transmission and rear-end are in need of new seals due to the old seals drying out in storage. There is some existing rust damage, he windshield surround was heavily rusted, nd repaired poorly by my father many years ago. The area around the cowl vent is also rusted and the vent lever is not connected. There is rust at the side mounting rivet location on both front fenders. One bench seat is included and it is not original. The original running boards are included in the sale. . The springs are original, ut all the shackels and mounting hardware has been replaced with new hardware. The transmission and rear end are original to the vehicle, he motor was replace in 1954, nd again in 1976. The current engine is believed to be a 230cu. in. from a Plymouth. The front doors/windows are not finished.
Vehicle is being sold as-is, here-is.
