Dodge Dart 1963 Description
Up for auction is an unmolested, original owner 1963 Dodge Dart GT. The car is an original fully functional survivor used as a daily driver. This car sports a 270 Slant Six under the hood with a push-button automatic. The interior is original with sport buckets and GT emblems. The car originally came from California and then migrated to the Arizona climate with it's owner. The body has minimal damage with no major rust. There is indication of rust bubbling through thelower rear wheel wells and the lower corner of the drivers side trunk area. (see pictures). The drivers side front quarter trim has been damaged and is included with some spare parts including the original "black" California plates. The paint is faded but original. The passenger side of the car was repainted at some time and looks to be clear coated. The owner explains that a bicycle ran into that side of the car and scratched it, requiring the touch up. The frame is straight and rust-free as is the trunk area. The floorboards are original and in good condition. The car starts and runs, steering is good as are the brakes. The push-button transmission operates as it should. The engine was rebuilt about 6 years ago. Unfortunately, the documentation for the rebuild has been misplaced. A new speedometer cable has been ordered and will come with the car. The car has a clean Arizona title. This car is quite the "barn find" as these models are somewhat rare. In researching the car, I found that the 1963 Dart was available with either a 170 or 225 Slant -Six motor. Transmissions were the A-904 Torque-flight automatic or a three-speed manual. The 904 was shifted with push buttons on the dash, the transmission uses cables to select the gear. The top of the line car was the Dart GT, which was essentially the same as the lower models but with a padded instrument panel, wheel covers and bucket seats. In 1963, Dodge made 51,300 Darts with the 170, 55,300 with the 270 and 34,300 Dart GT's. Three trim levels were offered: the low-spec 170, the high-spec 270 and the premium GT, which was available only as a 2-door hardtop or convertible. The Slant-Six 270 is a 225 cu in (3.7 L) 145 hp option that cost an additional $50 in 1963.
I am a trading partner on E-Bay and am helping the owner to sell this car. I have been working on E-Bay since 2004 and have successfully sold a dozen cars without problems. Please check my feedback rating and look back to verify cars that have been sold. I do not play games. Please do not bid unless you truly wish to purchase the car. The owner is not interested in any trades. This will be a cash deal with payment in the form of a certified cashiers check from a major bank. Once funds have been verified, the title and documentation will be overnighted to you. Payment can be made in person. Transport is the responsibility of the buyer. We will of course be available to help in the loading of the vehicle on a transport. The car can be driven home, of course, it is 54 years old in original condition and breakdowns are possible. As a sign of good faith, a $500 deposit must be received via PayPal within 24 hours of the close of the auction. Please feel free to ask additional questions via E-Bay, please allow 24 hours for me to contact the owner for specific information. I have posted a lot of pictures. Please look carefully at them and ask questions. Bid with confidence, a fair reserve has been set, please do not ask what the reserve is, that defeats the purpose, bid what you believe the car is worth to you....Have Fun!!!!
