Dodge DB8 1931 Description
This here is a 1931 Dodge Brothers DB8 sedan. Scare your neighbors with this cool Rat-Rad driving project car. Originally this was equipped with an inline 8 cylinder. This was the most deluxe version available and has special features such as dual spare wells, dual cowl vents and of course the 8 cylinder was there so has the beefed up axel and strong doubled frame among other things. I bought it the way you see it now from a buddy who did the customizing and V8 conversion about 10 years ago. The car currently has a Mid 1970s Dodge 360 V8 with a 727 automatic transmission. 12v system with LED headlights and turn signals. The brakes are old railroad lanterns. The exhaust is custom machine gun barrels with baffle tips. It's loud, but not as loud as you might think, it's very streetable like this. The sound is just right for bring loud! The car was parked with 95,000 miles on the clock and the body is pretty much all original still aside from the added devil on doors and words above rear window. Some rust through on rocker panels but this is still pretty decent and solid overall. Of course as a whole it's kinda rough, and ratty, and that's the point. He took a car that sat in a barn for decades with a hole in the block and modernized it and made it streetable just enough to go cruising. I look at this as sort of an unfinished project, it does run and drive and has been cruised like this for many years and around 6,000 miles. Been in many shows and car cruises. There's a bevy of things I'd prefer to re-do, or do, or restore, or make better. This is one of those cars you can drive now and fix up along the way. It's rough around the edges and there are many details that would improve this car but you can get in, start and drive it away right now. Many elements are still original, including the brakes, steering, axel, etc, but remember this was originally equipped with an 8 so it's stout enough to ride strong. A trans cooler was added by a hack friend and sits lower to the ground and not the ideal spot than I'd like, so it needs repositioned eventually and the brakes do need a re-shoe. But this will not stop you from a test drive or getting her home if your reasonably local. The interior is covered in furry fabric just for the sake of being covered, the roof vinyl was replaced sloppily but is secure, the seats are from a dodge van. The photo shows the rear luggage rack folded in the up position. I've since lowered it and includes an old black truck that sits on it. This includes all 6 original spoke Wheels and the 50s style set that is currently riding on. Some other extra parts included too along with all 4 original DB8 logo center caps. There's so much to say....its not a perfect car by any means. It's a running driving Rat Rod project. It's rattly, drafty, loud and rough around the edges but has been on the street every year for the last 10 years just as you see it. There is much room for improvement and the work that has been done to get this on the road was done by a group effort of non professionals so it is what it is.If you want to see the car in person first Iurge you to contact me, and if you have questions by all means ask away! This is the first time attempting to sell and I'm starting my auction listing at a crazy reasonable price with no reserve.Car can be seen and to be picked up in West Chicago Illinois.
