Dodge Other 1980 Description
*****I just spent $400 having a new Oil Pan and Gasket installed so disregard oil leak comment below. Also, ithin the last 3000 miles and 3 years, r less: Heads removed and machined, ew Crane Camshaft, ifters, ew HD Valve Springs, ew Double Roller Timing Chain and gear set, ew Valve guides, ew Rear Main Seal, xhaust Manifolds re-sealed and new bolts, nd the factory intake crossover etc. thoroughly cleaned, nd all installed with new Head Gaskets. At same timeall new Brass Freeze Plugswere installed. Work done by an ASE professional Mopar fanatic mechanic with over 40 years experience. He's as picky as I am. This cost me $1700.00 alone. Also done within the same time frame: High Torque Mini Starter installed. Within the last year I had mechanic replace Transmission Pump Seal and new fluid and filter at $464.00, he true dual exhausts with H Pipe at $425.00. These are some of reasons this car runs perfect. When the heads were off, echanic commented to me how good the cylinder walls looked, ith NO scoring whatsoever. A compression/leakdown test had been performed prior to this work, nd despite the high miles the compression was great. Within factory specs (if I remember correctly he said between 148-150 across all eight).
As the VIN will authenticate, his is a factory A38/E58 360 four barrel Police Package Aspen. 8.25 HD rear with silent 2.94 gears. The 360 runs absolutely flawlessly, ses ZERO oil, nd has no knocks, icks, tc. Has a NOS Thermoquad and sounds beautiful when those secondaries open. Perfect working 727 transmission with perfectly operating lock-up converter. Retains the original factory engine oil/trans fluid/power steering coolers, nd all are completely leak free. All gaskets throughout have been changed and are leak free except something went wrong with oil pan gasket and it leaks. When going to replace it, think I got a 318 pan. At the time I didn't realize the 360 used a different pan. Ebay seller listed the pan for "273, 18, 60". Wrong. So I do have another new pan and gasket, ut haven't installed it (actually paid mechanic to install it) yet. The brakes are 100% new. EVERYTHING, nd they work great. Has the large finned rear drums and discs up front. All the gauges are NOS, ncluding the certified 125 mph speedometer, il pressure, emp, uel, nd ammeter gauges. Some had fade and I wanted them all to look new. All work. AM/FM radio, ingle up front speaker work well. Heater works well. I removed the a/c when I got the car because I didn't want to put a thousand dollars into it. I love driving it with windows down and listening to the engine/exhaust. Has new full dual exhausts with factory Mopar turn-downs out the back. Kentucky Department Of Justice had a roll bar installed, nd it's still in the car. Seats are original cloth with tears on drivers side and they are overall dirty and kind of worn. There are so many NOS parts installed and so much labor I've put into this car I can't remember everything, ut I bet I could come up with at least five thousand in receipts. I know you never get back what you spend on old cars, ut just thought I'd mention it. The car drove straight as an arrow and steered great, ut k-frame had alot of surface rust, nd I had an '88 Diplomat Police Car parts car with all new HD parts (the large 11/16" tie rods, D Pitman arm, ew Moog upper and lower ball joints, nd firmfeel poly bushings throughout, ncluding torsion bar bushings, tc.) and not a speck of surface rust so I swapped it into the Aspen. If you know these cars, ou know the '88 and '89 Diplomats were known to have the best K frames of all the M and F body Police cars. Rebuilt Title is from KDOJ and I was told it was front fender damaged and repaired. There is absolutely no frame damage (even if there was I replaced the K frame. Old one showed no damage at all) or any panel fit problems or any worries from that. Car was not totaled. All windows roll up and down without problem, nd doors fit perfectly and open and close perfectly. If not for the radiator fins rotting out but no leaks yet, would honestly feel like I could drive it anywhere. The radiator p#sses me off because I spent over two hundred dollars on it from rockauto less than three years ago and it's already rotted out. I don't live on beach either. Cheap Chinese crap. It's a "Max Cooling/HD" and I've always tried to keep everything as close to original as possible.Car exterior is very dirty because I don't get it wet. When I do get caught in a rain, hen I scrub it, se blower to blow it off, hen dry and put away. Haven't been caught in rain in long time. There is no paint to really protect, o I'd rather have it dirty than wet. Black spot on rust bubble on right side taillight area is Rust Converter I sprayed into the small crack.I know this sounds like a sales pitch, ut I don't have a problem if this car doesn't sell. I'm torn over selling it but something has got to go due to room and my purchasing a Charger Police car. If it doesn't sell I will be somewhat relieved, ut I know it's best if it does sell. Hope there is a Mopar fanatic such as myself out there who loves the old police cars. Obviously there is no warranty and it's sold as is. I will help in any way I can with shipping but you can drive it home if you want. We can change the radiator right here in my garage. I have a new one.
Please ask any questions, ecause I'm sure I'm forgetting things. 321 720 2500 One thing I can tell you is this; you will get nothing but absolute honesty from me. If you can, ome drive it! Got thru it. I can put it on jackstands for anyone who wants to come see it. Thank You.
