Dodge Polara 1968 Description
1968 Dodge Polara 2 Door Hardtop 318 AutoI bought this car 8 years ago out of Detroit, I. I drove it 5hrs home to Indianapolis, discovered later that the car had been in a front end wreck in the past and the frame on the driver's side was broken completely in half between the front suspension and the bumper, he damage was hidden under the battery, nd the body had been repaired decently.
I have welded the broken frame back together as a patch to lot/test drive it and I do not consider it roadworthy as it currently sits. I purchased a 4dr 383 (minus drivetrain) car out of Oklahoma to use as a donor for the front end.
The front ends on these cars bolt in,and can be replaced relatively easily in comparison to other cars that would require cutting and welding.
The car itself is in fair condition, as been sitting since I got it, ith only the occasional trip around the block. It starts up and runs smoothly. The transmission does slip. Car stops, anual brakes. Non A/C car. Windshield has some cracks that do not affect visibility. Car had a vinyl roof that was torn and missing areas so I removed it to prevent it from holding moisture. Tires hold air but are dry rotted and cracking from age. Interior is in poor condition.
This was a Michigan car. There is previous rust repair in the rockers and quarter panels as well as in the truck floor. There are small spots of rust through in the floor boards and trunk as well as on the drivers side roof C-pillar. Previous owner drilled holes for aerial style antenna on top of both sides of rear quarters. The car will need rust repair caps for the rear frame rails and spring perches.
The donor front end from Oklahoma is solid with only surface rust on the frame and inner fenders.
