Dodge Power Wagon 1978 Description

Dodge Powerwagon 1978 Custom 400 Dual wheel 11,000 GVW 440 cubic inch auto trans. This truck has been sitting in the corner of our shop for many years. We've run out of room and it needs to go. It started life as a rescue truck and had a rescue body on it. That is gone. It came from New Jersey and has 8182 original miles. It was running when we got it and needed exhaust manifold gaskets. We have since had the factory manifolds planed and reinstalled manifolds.This truck needs some work to get it running. Here is what we have done other than manifolds. New high torque starter. New fuel pump. New engine mounts New brake booster and master cylinder. We have a new pertronix unit for distributor not yet installed. The driver side floor pan has been replaced and needs final welding in a few places. The body and frame has surface rust only. Cab corners are solid as well as rockers. There is no body filler on this truck and it wears original imron paint as applied by truckbuilderfor rescue squad. The inner fenders need to be put back on and theradiator support has a bit of rust that needs fixing. I have the grill and trim. This is an all original truck in excellent survivor condition. It needs some attention to wiring of starter and alternator. It had a big generator under hood which we removed and I have a new alternator and bracket that needs to go on. My brother bought and started the work on this truck years ago and go a bit ill and never finished it. It has been inside a heated shop all these years. The W40 powerwagons are awesome trucks and built about as good as it got in 78. Heavy Duty is an understatement. This is a rare truck waiting for someone to finish it the way they want. It is full time 4wd which in my opinion they should still be made fulltime. There aint nothing better for doing real work.
