Dodge Dakota 1989 Description
This is an auction for 1989 Dodge Dakota convertible pick up. There were approximately 3000 of these custom convertible pick ups made between 1989 and 1991. This is a 2 Wheel Drive model from 1989. It has 185,000 miles on it. It runs, drives, stops, and turns. It's running on most of its original suspension and drives like a 25 year old truck. The engine runs well. Drops little or no oil or transmission fluid. The four speed automatic shifts well. This truck is a great candidate for restoration that you can drive while you're doing it. The body is in reasonably good shape for its age. One fender will have to be replaced on the driver side. There is also some softness to the rocker on the passenger side. It has its bumps and bruises and small dings and dangs but overall the body is pretty straight. The paint has burned off on the top side of the car due to storage outside. The underside is relatively rust free which just some light surface rust. The frame appears to be in excellent condition. The bed is in excellent condition with no rust holes and just dings and dents from being used as a landscaping truck for part of it's life. The interior is in reasonably good shape. There is some peeling from a die job on the panels. The radio does not work. Mostly all lights work have no reason to think otherwise. Wipers work. Fabric in the car is in relatively good shape. The top holds out water for the most part but will probably have to be replaced. At one time the last owner glued the top shot due to a water leak which caused a hole in the drivers floor which he patched himself with I believe are rivets and sheet-metal. The trim around the top seal has some corrosion. The top is serviceable now but should be replaced. The windows go up and down but are slow. The top like all Dakota convertibles is manual. There are some issues that should be taken care of. It appears the grommet at the top of the gas tank has possibly eroded away. Overfilling the tank will cause it to leak. Also after driving in warm weather for a good distance the car drives inconsistently. Ive been told fixing the gas tank grommet issue I'm told will resolve this problem due to back pressure issue in tank...this is what I've been told but not guaranteed. The grommet is about $12 and found here on eBay. The tires have about 3,000 miles on them. The wheels are the original wheels the car was built with. They are in good condition. Black plastic mini hub caps are gone.Since the truck is over 25 years old it could be registered as a classic or antique vehicle depending on your state. With a little work this pick up can be a solid driver. No warranties written or implied. $500 deposit due through PayPal within 72 hours of auction end. Balance due on pick up a vehicle. Car is located in New Jersey one hour south of New York City. Its rubber and lays across just the bottom of the bed. Also I made a mistake on the VIN . If you are doing a search for past history. The VIN is 1B7FL69X0KS106542
On Mar-27-16 at 20:14:01 PDT, seller added the following information:By the way, someone asked about the front fender. The damage I refered to was the rust hole. Yes, it can be patched, and the fender doesnt have to be thrown away and replaced, but at about $80 for the fender, it might be easier. Also, it looks like the truck is in its original paint. And I couldnt find any repaint. There are just some dings, and the paint has burnt off on spots facing up like the hood and around the bed....has a nice patina.
