Dodge Dakota 1990 Description

1990 Dodge Dakota Convertible, v6, 4wd

This truck is incredible to drive at any time of the year, top up or down. In the fall of 2016, I had the brakes, front rotors, brake lines, fuel lines, and shocks all replaced on the truck and it rides and runs great.

The white convertible top does not leak and it goes up and down perfectly just as it was made too (manually). There is a bit of surface rust on the mechanics but it is in no way structural. Every electronic works (power windows, power locks, windshield wipers, radio, speakers, every light, etc). The heat works great and the A/C is fair- it blows cold but has been diminishing recently so I believe it needs to be refilled (compressor is still running strong and I do not see any leaks). Regardless, with a convertible top I only use the air conditioning when I am caught in a summer rainstorm. If you win the truck, please remember to always roll down the windows before putting the top down or up to maintain the waterproof seals.

The interior is in good shape. The dash originally had a cover on it and there are patches of Velcro struck to it due to this- they are easy to remove but have not bothered me so never took the time to do so. The seats and carpet are all in good shape, as are the door panels. A piece of trim on the drivers side floor is cracked. The center console armrest needs to be repaired but I have included an aftermarket one with the sale of the truck (it is sitting in the toolbox and is far nicer than the original in my opinion).

The 4wd works great and the rear tires are fairly new- the front ones will need to be replaced sooner. The engine is strong and has plenty of torque, it does not leak any oil and I have driven this truck on several trips out of state (over 7-hours one way).

The bedliner is in incredible shape. The toolbox will convey with the truck as will the trailer hitch.

The few things which need work on the truck:

1)The seat belt retractors are getting old and will need to be replaced.

2)The latch to the center console is broken. I have a new aftermarket center console which is far nicer than the original version in my opinion, it is included with the truck.

3)As mentioned above, the A/C blows cold but not freezing. It could use a refill.

4)The passenger door window clips the convertible top’s frame when the window is up and the door is being shut. I believe this could be an easy adjustment, or you can do what I do which is just roll up the window after you shut the door and it seals fine.

5)The truck will need an alignment at some point- I have been waiting to replace the front tires before I do it. In the meantime, the steering is pretty similar to every old truck I have driven (it is consistently a little vague but is fine once you adjust).

Other than those five items (which you could classify as “character”), I have never had a single issue with the truck. I would trust it to take me anywhere on any terrain and the convertible tops makes every ride an eye-catcher. If you win this truck, prepare yourself for a lot of compliments and questions.

Please feel free to ask me anything regarding the truck and good luck bidding!
