Dodge Other Pickups 1951 Description
I have a super clean 1951Dodge M37 T-245 WOW ( with out winch) that I am offering for sale. I didn't do the resto on this truck soI'm going offwhat I was told by the previous owner and my own research. I was told the restomod was done in 2009-2010 by a guy in Oregon. It has aMATCHING NUMBER FRAMEstamped on the outside of the frame, driver side, in front of the front tire 80011491.It has a dodge 318 cubic inchcasting # 2536030 318-8sounds like it might have a mild cam, sounds great idling, small Carter two barrel carb #2378 looks new, automatic choke works great. Engine isMated to an NP435 casting # 2508034 d-3 8-17-64 435. I can't quite read the all thecasting # on the transfer case but I was told andit looks like the NP200 to me. The emergency brake works very well and the" twin stick " 4x4 selector and low range move easily into 4 wheel drive and low range, all the linkage looks new underneath.Has a 2 into 1 exhaust that comes out just in front of the driver's rear tire, with what I call a cherry bomb muffler, sounds great. Whomever did the restoration had great attention to detail and it shows all throughout the truck. It doesn't look like the inner fender wells or firewallwere cut at all for the engine swap. All of the wiring is brand new 12vwith a new fuse block located on the drivers side of the firewall, with a custom clear cover, all very nicely done. Electronic ignition mounted on the passengers side of the firewall. Headlights have high and low beam(foot switch) that has a little blue light for high beams on dash, running lights, turn signals front and rear, 4 way emergency flashers, lighted rear license plate holder, horn, electric wipers, and most important for Oregon, it has a two speed heater/fan mounted under the glove boxthat will blow you out of the cab.The lever to operate the" Cabcowl air " located under dash in front of gear selector, looks new and operates like new, the area around the cowl and under the dash are in great shape.Nicely mounted saginaw power steering box, steers with one finger, has a power steeringcooler that you can see in the pics in front of the radiator. Both front windows fold out from the bottom and both lock, both doors open and close very nice and the windows both roll up and down nicely. Both doors lockfrom the inside by pulling up on the handle. All of the gauges are working Temp, fuel, volts, and oil pressure. The speedometer works and it has just over 19500 miles which are probably original but who really knows, mileage will go up on sunny days. The seatlooks greatwith a black pleatedvinyl that looks very niceand has two retractablelapseat belts. 70/30 split bench drivers side hinges forward and the passengers side has the original latch. All off the gauges and speedometerhavelights, all the lights can be dimmed or turned all of the wayoff and blacked out by turning the headlight knob. There isa new battery located under the passenger seat. Thegun compartment under the front of thebed looks brand new inside. The gas tank looks new as far as you can see in it and it has the can filler extension in the neck that you pull out about ten inches and lock into place for filling with cans. the cap is hooked to the extension with a chain. The paint is Olive drab and is in great shape. The body is in very nice but it isNOT perfect and the hardtop and the truckhavea few mortar casingdings inthem ( that's my take anyway ). It wouldn't take much body work to make this M37 perfect. The hard top is metal and is removable, I have seen it called an" Arctic hard top " on old truck forums, ithas a really cool sliding back window with a cool old latchthat locks it. The drive lines look brand new as well as a lot of other components on the running gear which I believehas the stock 5.83's. The front hubs are a cooltwin lever made by Dualmatic, the Dual-Matic flip-lever hubs, two little levers on each front hub pull out, spin around, push back in.Little tiny letters say "free" on one side and "lock" on the other side, all spin around very easily. The tires are all BIAS plydenman 9.00 x 16" are like new on 5 lug 16" split rims, spare tire mount in bed but no spare, pioneer tool rack on gate, but no tools.Has a pintle hitch on back with grease zircsthat looks newand rotates 360 degrees so your trailer can be angled on rough terrain. There is a four flat plugwired in ready for your trailer. This M37 Runs, drives and stops very good, probably as good aswhen it was new, but it is very low geared and 40-45mph should e as fast as you plan to go. I have not tried to climb a tree yet but it is more suited for that speed.I have driven itover 600 miles with no problems, and where I park it in the shop it leaves no oil.Looks great underneath with veryminor seepage from tranny and transfer case. all the rubber seals and weather stripping on the fenders, doors and windowslook new. This truck had normal Washington state plates when I bought it but it qualified for Oregon special interest plates(65 YEARS OLD)which never need tabs and that's whatare on it now. Looked for a cummins / disc brakerunning gearswap candidate for a long time, thought this was the perfect one,but I'm not sure if I can cut this one up or not. I have a ton more pics. Email if interested.
