Dodge Other 1966 Description

Have decided to sell my big Dodge. It is a '66 CNT900.It is powered by the original Cummins NH220 engine.Equipped with Eaton tandem axles and 5 speed manual transmission. The truck has many needs but is pretty much all there.

The Good: The body is mostly complete and does not have a lot of damage or rust-out. The engine runs and sounds good. It starts up every time and comes with good batteries. It lets out smoke at first and then clears up pretty good. The pictures of the instruments are with the engine running. It shows good oil pressure and the charging system works. The fuel gauge does not work. No major coolant or oil leaks. The clutch feels pretty good and the transmission seems to be ok. The air brakes work as well as the park brake. Steering (manual) components are tight. The headlamps and front turn signals work (there are no rear lamps). Wipers operate.

The Bad: The frame is damaged on this truck. It was being used as a dump truck when the bed tipped over on it and twisted up the rear part of the frame. There is a section under the cab that has been repaired in the past with a fish plate (pic. included) as well. That is the way I purchased the truck so I don't know much about its history. The factory provided holes in the frame for several locations to mount the rear tandem axles (walking beams) I was planning on moving the suspension to the very front holes (closest to the cab) and cutting off the damaged portion of the frame off. It could be used as a tractor-trailer hauler that way.

The floor in the cab needs some work. Nothing too major probably would have to build some floor pans (left side has a plate screwed down and right side has scaly rust with some small rust holes). The cab mounts look good. The back of the cab is damaged from something hitting it. Thewindshield is cracked down the center andthe drivers window is also cracked. The rear windowis heavily scratched and the seal is in poor condition. Not much left of the rubber mat on floor and the pass. seat is missing. Drivers seat is in poor condition. There are problems with the air system: there is a leak under the cab, he rear axles do not lock or shift because of a missing and a broken actuator. Don't know a lot about the drivetrain but it looks to have a 3 speed rear end setup. So with the 5 speed trans you could have 15 gears. Has Dayton wheels. Tires are shot all the way around. Has twin fuel tanks and they are about half full of fuel. Speedometer is inoperative (no speedo cable).

The Norm for a 49 year old truck: I don't think this truck has been on the road since 1983 but I thank it has always been kept running. It looks like the rear suspension has had some work done on it. Lots of new bolts and possibly the springs were replaced. Do not know condition of brake components. This truck is a going to need a lot of work to get it road worthy.May need any array of repairs.

I've done my best to describe the truck as it is. It is a one of a kind now days and has a lot of potential. Truck will drive onto a transport trailer but that's all I will guarantee. Would need payment in full within 7 days of auction end. Payment by cashiers check or cash at pickup will be accepted. Has clear Utah title. Truck is located 15 Miles north of Salt Lake City, T.
