Dodge Challenger 1970 Description
1970 Dodge Challenger SE 383-4bbl. Auto For Sale in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada T4N 0S7Numbers-matching, original sheetmetal, completely and correctly restored. Highly-optioned, this is a beautiful car in its FY4 Light Gold Metallic. One of 644 SE's with the 383 and automatic, the only year the Special Edition was produced, and in a refreshing color that wasn't inspired by fruit!
The car spent its life in the California desert until 2001, restored 2001-2004, driven less than 2,500 miles by two mature owners since. It wears all its original sheetmetal with the exception of a new trunk floor. The pictures show the car as-is, and it has not been washed or seen water in 8 years. All parts used in the restoration were purchased from Dodge or were NOS out of the US, the remainder were quality US-made reproductions or refurbished by well-known American Mopar restoration service companies. All receipts are included, no overseas parts used, right down to the hose clamps and center caps.
The original 330hp engine was rebuilt (0.30 over), the heads received a performance massage with larger valves and a higher-lift cam installed to bring the motor up to its potential less than 600 miles ago, the rotating assembly and new pistons have been balanced as well. This stout big block will easily push over 400hp if tested and has a perfect rumble through its new TTI exhaust and DynoMax mufflers. The transmission received a performance rebuild including a new stall converter and shift kit. The 3:55 Sure-Grip has been serviced and bearings replaced.
Suspension (including springs) is new, as are the brake, fuel, ignition and cooling systems. Rims, trim rings, center caps and tires are as-new. The car runs, drives and stops perfectly, as it should. Not one drip of fluids on the floor after 8 years. It will not disappoint the most avid Mopar enthusiast, will run with any stock T/A or R/T out there, and draws a big crowd at meets due to its rarity.
As you can tell by the pictures, the color of the car appears to change from rich gold in bright sunlight to a hint of green/gold in the shade to a darker gold under electric lights. It is a unique and rare tone that draws a lot of compliments and also the odd “...yeah, but it's not purple.”
This SE has so many options that a second fender tag was required. The body and paint are excellent. Chrome and trim are beautiful. The leather and vinyl interior follows this theme. Heat and sound insulation was added to the as-new floor pan before laying the new carpet. Doors, hood and trunk are aligned perfectly and close like a new vehicle. Power windows with tinted glass operate as they should. Electrical is mostly new and has no issues, original AM/FM stereo radio converted to digital and includes a hidden digital input and new speakers. This is truly a turn-key car. Hop in, drive, and enjoy!
Car is located in Alberta, Canada. All receipts for the restoration, mechanical inspection report, 2001 California personalized licence plates, original owner's and shop manuals and an 18-page appraisal (2009) c/w car.
