Up for auction
On EbayMotors is the most documented and historically significant FordFactory Roadster we have ever seen. Records show it was the very first Thunderbird SportsRoadster produced for the 1963 Model year....#1 out of a total of 455 produced.
It has a voluminous file of receipts and documents that is more than six inches thick!
We have the photographs showing this car being completely disassembled and thenbeing meticulously restored.
Shown in the auction is a photo of this car's ORIGINAL FACTORY FORD INVOICE.
The 1963 Thunderbirds were introduced on September 28, 1962 and consisted of the same four models available in 1962.
The Hardtop was the least expensive at $4,445 with 42,806 built; the Landau came next at $4,548 and 12,139 built.
Followed by the Convertible, which was priced at $4,912 with 5,913 built.
Last came the Sports Roadster, the most expensive model
in standard form at $5,563 with just 455 built!
The very 1st 1963 Thunderbird Sport Roadster was built on September 6th,1962.
This car is being offered exclusively on Ebay Motors and is documented by it's FACTORY ORIGINAL INVOICE,also commonly referred to as the"GATE RELEASE" NOT A PHOTOCOPY BUT THE ORIGINAL!

What was new for the 1963 Thunderbird?

It was no secret at Ford that Buick would be announcing a new model for 1963, and faced with the fact that, based on slower than anticipated sales, the 1961-1962 styling wasn't being accepted by the public as wellas Ford had planned on, a fairly major restyle effort was put in place. To overcome objections to the rounded, rocket ship-like styling, the front fenders were revised to include a new character line that would start at the tipof the fender where it met the front bumper, and continue rearward to the middle of the door, where it dippeddown and trailed off. A series of three hash marks were placed on the door just under this line, forward of whereit dipped down. The overall treatment was reminiscent of the 1958-1960 Thunderbirds. This design also squaredoff the front wheel well, making it more closely match the rear opening when fender shields weren't installed, which was a big improvement.
Up front, the Bird got a new grille that to many is the most beautiful of this series.
A series of staggered chrome bars, its simplicity gave the Thunderbird new elegance. The script was moved to the rear of the quarter panel, and new tail lamp lensesupdated the appearance from the rear.
New standard and deluxe wheel cover designs completed the exterior updates.Inside, a new upholstery pattern graced the seats.
Ford combined two different vinyl patterns to give the seats different textures on the seating surfaces and bolsters. Some interiors featured two tone colors, with a darker shade on the bolsters.
Genuine leather was still an option, and a new silver stripe cloth insert was offered in 4 colors optionallyat no additional charge.
The standard equipment list grew for 1963, with a couple of items that were formerly optional, but frequently ordered, made standard.
These include the AM Radio and the MagicAire Heater-Defroster.
Additionally, a remote control exterior rear view mirror, dual-lens door courtesy lightsand variable-speed hydraulic windshield wipers

A few options were offered for the first time in 1963. Vacuum door locks, AM-FM pushbutton radio, rear seat speaker, concentric whitewall tires, and a new deluxe wheel cover with simulatedknock-off spinners were all new.
The factory brochures mentioned an automatic speed control, which would have been similar to the oneoffered on the Lincoln Continental, but it didn't make it to production until 1964, due to a few issues thatneeded to be resolved. And even early 1964 cars with the speed control option had to have it disabledafter owners reported problems with it.
Buyers looking to purchase a new Thunderbird had a wider than ever choice of colors, trims, and options to choose from.
In all, 22 different paint shades were available, teamed with 9 all-vinyl, 4 cloth and vinyl, and 5 genuine leather interiors. The Landau vinyl roof was available in 4 colors, black, white, blue, and brown, the latter two new for 1963. Convertible topswere available in black, white, or blue.
The power train for 1963 was mostly carry over, except the Thunderbird Sports V-8 (referred to as the "M" option, due to itsM designation in the vehicle serial number), was discontinued early in the model year.
Complaints from new owners of poor gas mileage, rough idle, and backfiring were common, and many Birds had thethree 2-barrel carburetors, intake manifold, and other related components removed and refitted with standard 4-barrelparts before they even hit the lot.
The dealers knew they would have difficulty selling the car because of this option, so they just removed it the minute it arrived.
As a result, even fewer are still equipped with this engine today. Its modest 40 horsepower increase over the standard enginedidn't make all that much difference, really, and few Thunderbird owners bought the car for its performance.Styling and allure were the key factors, and the Thunderbird certainly excelled in both.
There are reports that the Sports Roadster was discontinued prior to the end of model year production, and the few peoplewho wanted one had some difficulty locating a car to suit their needs late in the model year. Although the wire wheelsand tonneau cover would be available for 1964, the Sports Roadster designation was not.
No Sports Roadsters were made after 1963, which makes it a two year model. With just 1,882 made over its two year run,It is the rarest of the classic Thunderbirds, and as such is themost collectible and highly prized Thunderbirds.
Condition of this car
This gorgeous Roadster was stripped to the bare metal and painted to perfection. The body isarrow straight and the fit on the doors, hood, rear deck and convertible top is excellent.
The chrome and trim is magnificent. It is hard to believe this is a 53 year old car.
The interior is "AS NEW" The seats, carpeting, door panels, dash are in "show condition"All the gauges, lights, switches, power windows, horn, wipers, radio work and the air-conditioningblows ice cold.
Engine & Transmission
Both were professionally rebuilt. The 390 cid-V-8 is responsive and it's 10.8-1 Compressionengine requires Premium fuel and it's 3 speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission shiftssilky-smooth.
Engine Compartment
When this car's original Thunderbird 390 cid V-8 was removed and professionally rebuilt, the engine compartment and all accessories were rebuilt to originals specs and theentire engine compartment painted and detailed to concourse level.
Top mechanism/Trunk Area
The top storage area (what would normally be the trunk) was restored to perfection. The entire top mechanism was completely rebuilt & restored.
We had the America'sleading expert on these cars, Tom Chitwood of Daytona Beach,FL come to our facilityonAugust 9th & 10th and go through the entire top system. He replaced several of the hoses, one of the toppistons and made sure the entire top mechanism was operating 100% correctly & efficiently.
Kelsey/Hayes wire wheels
This car has 5 Kelsey/Hayes wire wheels, the tires are "As New"and the chrome on the wire wheels is spectacular. We believe the spare isthe original from when the car was delivered. It still has the factory sticker on the tire &does not appear to have ever been used. Due to its age we advise you do not actuallyuse it but to hold on to it as it is part of this car's history.
I drove this car today on the Florida Turnpike at 75-80mph and it drives absolutelyfabulous. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere at anytime. We're extremely proud of our 16 years of 100% feedback. On March 15th of 2000 we sold our 1st vintage car on Ebay, a 1967 Olds W/30,4/Speed in Yellow with white bucket seats Convertible for $21,000.
Probably worth $75,000 today if it's been well cared for?
Wespend countless hours writing the descriptions of every car we offer exclusively onebaymotors.comand spend manyhours taking 100's of photographs and then selecting the best 75-100 pictures on every car.
We spend countless hours making sure every car we offer is the best it can be. If we find a light bulb out, we replace it,if the clock is not working, we will alert you to that...we do our best to never "Surprise" anyone.
If a car needs a new battery....we install one....We drive all of our cars for 50-200 milesand if we find something not working...we fix it....if we don't fix it---we tell you in theauction copy what is not working.
One of my pet complaints is spending good $ for a car that arrives with barely enough gas toget it off the truck...that will never be the case with any car sold by us.
Every car we sell is professionally detailed by Marcus. Marcus has won several national awardson cars he has detailed and many for cars we have proudly sold on Ebaymotors.com
After detailed, each car is shipped in a clear "Car Condom" a special plastic covering withan elastic band that holds the cover down at your cars closest point to the ground and preventingany dust or dirt from getting on your car while being transported.

Who is "Lifestyle 21st Century Auctions?"
We are constantly asked by all the top Auction Companies to please bring our extraordinary vintagecars to their auctions. We have been offered PRIME TIMES, NO ENTRY FEES and all types of perks.
Instead, we proudly choose to sell all of our cars to the worldwide audience of car collectors and car loverswho love the opportunityto buy our cars without paying the 10% Buyer fees and high shipping costs as aresult of a "SpecialArrangement" with a few 'on auction site shippers.'
And remember, when you buy a car at an auction, you have no clue as to how that vehicle is going to drive. We drive every car 100-200 miles to make sure they drive and run as close to perfect as possible...any of our cars can be picked up in South Florida and driven Coast to Coastwith complete reliability, safety and in comfort.
We also love the fact that we can get to know on a personal basis those who purchase our cars. Many we gladlybuy back after a few years and sell them another wonderful collectable car.
Finally, we welcome any pre-inspection of our cars by an Inspection company that is hiredby a potential buyer. If they have the proper insurance and a valid Driver's license we letthem drive the car as well.
We are extremely proud of the cars we offer which has resulted in a 100% feedback rating for more than 16 years.
We sold our 1st vintage car on Ebay in March of 2000. Prior to that, for 40 years we sold almost every car through print media.
The question we are always asked "How do you find all of these incredible cars?"
The answer is simple. We have been collecting the best of the best since 1960! During these past 56 yearswe have met 1000's and 1000's of wonderful guys & girls who love this hobby as much as we do. Unfortunatelymany have and do pass away and when they do the families call us. The cars most often find us for the 2nd time....we don't "find" the cars.
We fly in to inspect the car, most of the times it's acollectionwhich can be 5 or 6 cars....or more. Many times it's a lot more, 25, 50 or as high as 100+ cars.
When we purchase & ship the cars back to Florida we inspect and drive every car. If it needs anything, we haveit correctly & expertly repaired. We don't take shortcuts. If an Air-conditioning system is not working, we don'tjust add Freon....we go through the entire system and fix it right. We're not perfect and once in a greatwhile we mightoverlook something...if we do...call us and we will do everything we can to make it right.
A very long time friend recently asked us "Why do you try and make every thing work in all of your cars?"
I replied in an instant by saying "Because that is way we would love to buy all of our vehicles"
Additionally, we're not greedy. A small markup is added to each car, we keep the overhead to a minimumand always "leave room" for the new buyer to sell his or her car should they make that decision.
We never try to just"Make a sale"because a sale is usually a one time event. Instead, we do our best to"Make a customer"because a customer is forever and that's a VERY good thing in business.
It is UNDERPRICED the current market on a car equippedlike this and restored to this level!
I would urge you to call me ASAP at(954) 873-6495and I will share with you our lowest possible price...we will NOT respondto e-mails requesting this information and will only share this with a live voice on the phone.
If you have a car that is fully restored or completely original and in EXCELLENT condition, we would welcome to take your car in trade.
