Ford Mustang 1970 Description
For sale in our Detroit showroom is this Authentic 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302. The Camaro/Mustang rivalry began in 1967 with the introduction of the Camaro by General Motors which was the greatest threat to the Mustang. The performance of Ford’s 289 and 390 engines was not up to par with the Camaro’s small block and big block V8s so Ford started production of the 428 Cobra Jet Ford Windsor and a Ford Boss 302 engine. The Boss 302 CID Hi-Po engine was created by combining a Ford Windsor 302 cubic inch engine block with large valve Ford Cleveland 351 cubic inch cylinder heads. With this the Boss 302 was born, and with production of the first generation of the Boss 302 lasting only for the 1969 and 1970 model years this would become one of the rarest of the special edition Mustangs to date. This 1970 Ford Mustang is a true authentic Boss 302 which is a rust free southern car in great overall condition having a restoration completed in 2006 logging only 8,000 miles since completion and is winner of several awards including 2007 World Ford Challenge X Mustang Monthly Editors Choice Award. The Marti Report shows this Boss 302 as a 1 of 1 sold in the U.S. The interior has an all new carpet, seat covers, door panels, and the original dash pad in perfect condition, and the original Philco AM radio which is still in working order. The exterior was stripped to bare metal before repainting with a beautiful Medium Blue Metallic coating. This Boss has an entirely new front suspension and steering components, the driveshaft, exhaust, and fuel tank are all new as well. Both the motor and the 4-speed top loader transmission have been fully rebuilt and the rear end upgraded to a 3.91 traction loc. Don’t miss this opportunity to own one of the most rare Mustang models that Ford has ever built.
