Ford F-250 1983 Description
Selling my 1983 F250 Diesel 4x4. Has a recently rebuilt C6. Runs/drives/stops great. Recently powdercoated wheels and new Mastercraft Courser AXT 235/85/16 tires and spare. 4x4 works great. Dual tanks. Air and cruise control inop. 3.54 Dana 60 non locker. Crack in windshield, interior OK. Had this truck shipped here to Mich from Roseburg, Oregon as it had (and has) a rust free body. No rust holes or anything close to a hole, just a super solid body (includingundercarriage) Has faded paint, surface rust, dents and dings. I drive it every day, glow plug timing system bypassed by a simple momentary switch. I installed all new Motorcraft glow plugs as 8 of the 10 were open. Now it starts every time. As it sat this past winter, I would start it about once a week in as low as -11 degree weather, started every time.Truck had been maintained by previous owner as I was provided with all the service records going back to 1984 or so when the previous owner bought it used. The service records backup the indicated mileage of 142,xxx miles.
As I mentioned runs great and drive great, no pulls, trans shifts nice and firm (rebuilt here last Fall by a reputable local shop, all new UJoints at the same time) 6.9 runs great, and does use about a quart of oil every 750 miles or so. 17 MPG back and forth to work. Have mechanical oil pressure and temperature underdash gaugesinstalled, runs cool at all times and oil pressure is within specs for a 6.9L. Original exhaust in excellent condition.
Power steering, power disc brakes, power windows, air, tilt. cruise.
No beauty queen, do not expect one. Just a dependable workhorse that could be driven as is, or treat to a paint job. Either way a nice original body that provides a good base to work off of. Reserve is below what I have into it as I did not anticipate the need for a trans rebuild. Part of the game.
My name is Warren, contact me with questions at 734-735-2086, No texts please, I will not answer them. I can help load and hold the truck as long as it is paid for. Clear Mich title in my name. Thanks for taking a look!On Sep-27-16 at 15:45:16 PDT, seller added the following information:
Just to answer a few questions I havereceivedregarding condition: The brakes are fairly recent and have plenty of life left. The red "brake" warning light comes on from time to time as the shipper tore a rear line off with one of the hold downs and I had to replace it. I never recentered the switch in the metering/prop valve and that is the cause of theintermittentlight.
Interior is fair with wear of the carpet and some minor wear on the drivers seat. Both power windows work, rear slider works fine also. Exterior paint has PLENTY of patina on the horizontal surfaces. Do not expect good paint.
Before before I got it, the injection pump was replaced, I have always used Stanedyne fuel conditioner to keep the pump lubed - every fill up.
OK, more questions. :)
The passenger door pocket is actually a aluminum road sign bent with a sheet metal brake and attached to the door. Pretty good job so I left it. The plastic pockets tended to break so the past owner applied a little creativity.
Oil was just changed about 800 miles ago. Both batteries were new last September. Brand new heater core. Heat is great.
Mileage around town sits at around 17 or so.
Underside is super clean, surface rust on frame, floorboards, underside of box etc just dirty with paint/primer visible underneath.
Truck had a topper on it for years, that helps explain the good condition of the box load floor.
Kelsey Hayes Hyd brake controller plumbed in. NO frame hitch, evidence of one once being there.
