For all intents and purposes this is a one owner car. The most recent transfer occurred through probate of the original owner's estate who owned the car since new. He kept it meticulously maintained and garaged for the duration of his ownership. LTDs in this condition and such low milage are rarely seen. It is a beautiful example of a high-line luxury car from the 1970's.
This car is in unbelievable original unmolested condition. It has a few aftermarket replacement parts, eflecting maintenance repairs over the years (battery, lternator, uel pump, tc.) but is otherwise in 100% original condition, own to the hubcaps. It even has the original Ford keys.
Cosmetically the car is a solid 8 out of 10. It shows uncharacteristic light wear due to its low milage and being stored indoors whenever it was not being used. The vinyl top is in immaculate condition, ith no cracks or deterioration (see pics 11 & 12). The exterior paint still shines nicely but does have the expected nicks and chips ordinarily found in a car this age. Its biggest flaw is an area of impact damage on the left front fender that put a slight kink in the area behind the corner lamp. It appears the corner lamp was replaced to restore function and appearance, ut no metal or paint work was performed (see pic 23). The lamp fits well, nd the damage is almost completely unnoticable from 10-20 feet away. It could be left as-is without detracting from the overall appearance, r repaired easily without the need to replace any parts.
With the exception of a couple of seam separations in the driver seat area(see pic 18), nd some light carpet wear, he interior looks like new. The seats, ash, nd door panels are all original and in beautiful condition. The vinyl is still supple, ithout any cracks or sun bleaching whatsoever. The headliner is perfectly sound without any sagging or seam separations.
Mechanically it's in great condition as well. There is no indication of any prior major mechanical repairs. The alternator and fuel pump have both been recently replaced but otherwise it is in completely original configuration with no alterations or missing parts. Even the air conditioning system is fully functional. The engine starts and runs good, ut does have some oil smoke when it first starts, ndicative of failing valve guide seals. This is typical for the age and miles, nd the smoking stops when the car is warm. There are no external oil leaks or major mechanical issues of any kind. The transmission shifts normally, nd the suspension provides a luxurious ride.
The brakes function properly and the tires have great tread (see pic 24) and are fully roadworthy. All the accessories, orn, auges, nd lights work except the high beam indicator (probably just a bad bulb).
