Ford F-100 1963 Description
1963 Ford, F100, long bed, step-side, "high back", 272 cubic inch, 3-speed transmission manual with factory overdrive (not hooked-up). This is a limited production model because of the combination of options-long bed, step-side, HIGH BACK. Dodge and Ford offered an optional higher bed side (about 4.25"). It was popular amongst farmers/ranchers to allow for higher loads. It has the OEM optional load mirrors which allowed for adjustment to monitor higher/wider loads. They are original to the truck and have some "fogging".
This truck was manufactured in Ford's Dallas Assembly Plant (the "D" in the VIN), and spent it's life in Oklaunion, TX, until it was brought to Iowa, where I purchased it.The truck was 99% rust free, with the only rust being where the running boards met the rear fenders. That metal was cut out and new metal welded in.
The truck was stripped to bare metal, coated with 2 coats of self-etching primer, sanded, then 4 coats of red oxide primer, and topped off with 6 coats of "Viper Red" single stage acrylic.I did not color sand it, but there's plenty of paint there if you desire to do that.
The truck has never been in an accident, and had plenty of small dents, 50 years of farm life had given it.I removed almost all of them, but a couple were spotted after painting. This is not a truck you will win the Concourse de' Elegance at Pebble Beach, but it is one you can drive/show with pride.
Every nut/bolt/washer/lock washer was removed and either replaced with new, or refurbished to new condition.Every part of the truck that could be removed and disassembled was, except the suspension. I did not removed the cab, but the frame was completely cleaned. All rubber components were replaced, including window rubbers, door runners, hood bumpers, glove box bumpers, dash gasket, firewall to body moldings, rubber pedals, gas grommet, and motor mounts.Headliner, carpet, firewall cover, wipers, battery, battery box and cables are new. The heater was removed and rebuilt with new hoses installed and defroster tubes replaced.
Ford does not install fender to bed side beading, so I purchased beading from a same era CMC and installed it.
ENGINE: this truck was manufactured with a 223 cubic inch six cylinder (the "J" in the VIN), but I removed it and had a 272 Y block V8 from a 1957 F100 installed. The engine has a new distributor, new protonics, new Excel spark plug wires, new MSD coil, new Holley 2-barrell carb, Edelbrock air cleaner, new water pump, new JEGS 1 wire high output alternator, new chrome valve covers, custom made high capacity aluminum radiator with new hoses, a 3 speed manual transmission with factory OD(not hooked up), new headers and a complete newdual exhaust system.
New tires, motor mounts, shocks, brakes, red oak decking (4 coats of enamel underside, 6 coats clear lacquer on top side), side boards, ignition tumbler, wipers, glove box housing, body emblems, parking lights lenses and more.
Runs/drives better than new. I have over 100 photos of the restoration process so if there is an area you want to see email me and I will supply photos.
The original 223 and transmission is available for an additional $400.It has a new clutch ($225) and a rebuilt carb ($320). I can deliver within reason for a modest fee.I would suggest trailering the vehicle, despite is mechanical soundness.
FULL DISCLOSURE: The doors were painted at a different time/different gallon of paint, and as a result, there is some color difference as seen in the photos. Left front turn signal is new, but is dim-I'm chasing down the cause. Brake lights worked b/4 disassembly, but work only intermittently now-chasing down that issue(probably a ground).
I DO NOT accept PAY PAL. If you have less than 100% positive feedback or NO feedback, you must contact me prior to bidding or I will delete/block your bid.
Vehicle has NO warranty, either stated, implied or expressed. It is sold where is, as is. I reserve the right to end the auction at my discretion since I have it listed locally.Ask questions b/4 bidding-if you bid to win, I expect payment.
