Ford F-100 1968 Description

This 1968 Ford F100 Ranger pickup is one of those unusual trucks that just seem to pop up now and then. No truck looked this good or ran this well back in 1968, thanks to a rebuilt 360 cubic inch V8 and a paint job that looks clean and bright. If you need a full-size pickup with some style or a fun cruiser that can still earn its keep, this awesome Ford can still work and play hard.In 1968, trucks weren't fashion statements, they were tools. As a result, very few survived in great condition and even fewer were outfitted as nicely as this F-100. Someone with excellent taste obviously filled out the order form, as the two-tone white and yellow exterior with yellow and black interior are the truck's original colors, and throughout the past 45 or so years, it was extremely well maintained. The paint isn't perfect, but it's really nice for a truck, and it means that you won't think twice about running out to the garden center for some supplies and hauling them home. On the other hand, it also looks good enough to get appreciative glances out on the road and at the local cruise night, so get ready for a lot of "thumbs up" gestures on the road. There's lots of bright trim, indicative of the top-of-the-line model, with bright stainless rub stripes, chrome bumpers, and big FORD block letters on the tailgate. The bed is almost too pretty to be used, but then again, these were built to haul anything and everything, so have at it! As I mentioned, the black and yellow interior is pretty much as the factory intended. With newer soft parts, it looks fantastic and the wide bench seat offers a commanding view of the road from behind the wheel. That wheel is a slender 3-spoke unit that looks like it was borrowed from one of Ford's high-end passenger cars, and the instrument panel behind it is a clever arrangement of gauges inside an oval housing. The original AM radio is gone, replaced somewhere along the line with a digital AM/FM/CD/iPod head unit powering speakers mounted in the doors. Tough rubber mats protect the floor and help control noise and heat, and you don't have to worry if you take this truck to the job site once in a while, because that's what it was designed to do. Nevertheless, this is a nice place to spend some time. The 360 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt in 2006 and makes this truck a lot of fun to drive. Rumbling with horsepower, it offers the kind of grunt that makes old pickups so much fun, kind of like a Mustang with a bed. Thanks to an Edelbrock intake and carburetor, it definitely makes muscle-car-like levels of horsepower, and with lots of fresh maintenance items, it's a fantastic runner. Ford Blue paint looks great in the all-black engine bay, and it's been dressed with a few chrome bits and dress-up emblems to add some attitude. Power steering and brakes, new motor mounts, a fresh gas tank and fuel pump, and a new Optmia battery mean it's ready to go right now. The chassis is fairly clean and tidy, with the "Twin I-Beam" front suspension up front and a 9-inch hanging on leaf springs out back and a 3-speed manual transmission in the middle. There's also a new dual exhaust system with mellow-sounding mufflers, and flashy chrome wheels have been fitted with 225/75/15 radials.Usually big horsepower, rear wheel drive, and a sparkling paint job will cost you extra, but with this rugged and attractive Ford, it comes at a very reasonable price.
