I am selling this car for a friend. I have been involved with classic automobiles for almost 40 years. I have built and restored many Corvettes and Porsches and am a member of numerous car clubs including PCA & NCRS. I have judged at many concour events in and around Southern CA. This is a stellar, turn-key automobile at the highest-level of restoration. I hesitate to call the car Concour because it is driven, but it is indeed very close.

Imagine if you can a vehicle so stunning that it draws a crowd when it rolls up on the sand at Malibu Beach or parked “up front” in the Valet Circle at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset Boulevard. This is the kind of unique car that is nearly impossible to walk or drive by without squeezing off a double take or three. The unique personality of Old Classic Beauty, Modern, Luxurious Road Car, and Family Hot Rod/Beach Cruiser are all woven into this extravagant automobile.

It is nearly impossible to describe this one-off Custom Modified Modern Show Car. Perfection is a naughty word to throw around when it comes to automotive anything. This vehicle exudes perfection; in Design, in Workmanship, Appearance, Performance, Handling and Ride Quality. Perfection Abounds in this 46 Ford “Super Deluxe” Convertible. You can See it, Feel it, Hear it and Smell it.

There is a unique perfection in this over-all build. This uniqueness comes from the blend of new modern mechanical and electronic technology to the grace and elegance of a 40’s Rare Classic (the first year of production after WWII). Just the right touches from a Modern Tilt Steering Column with the Original Style Steering Wheel (in 13” Custom Diameter) with Power/Tilt to pursue that modern front-end steering underneath. Just the right touches of Modern and Classic abound at every corner and quality inch of this BRAND NEW Automobile.

This 1946 Super Deluxe Convertible is all that and more - with completely functional modern mechanics and reliabliability yet wrapped in an awesome old school shell. How cool to just jump in an old school ride and take off for any destination you mind can imagine and know you can get there and back with nary a thought about breaking down.

Absolutely stunning body panel fit and paint work catch your eye first, followed by the distinct blast of “leather” air as you enter this marvelous machine. The leather coachwork so fittingly wraps around your body, you feel as though you slipped into the cockpit of a Brand New Range Rover. The interior coachwork is nearly flawless, from paint finish, dash chrome to carpet and convertible top.

Driving a Performance Hot Rod like this one starts with a quick turn of the key which lights up the sound of a gentle thunder emanating from below. The Balanced and Blue-printed 400 Small Block comes alive without the slightest hesitation. Placing it in gear finds a quick snap into gear with the astonishing 700R4 Four-Speed Automatic Transmission and just the right amount of rumble from the Custom Exhaust as you accelerate from stopped. Not too loud, not too quiet, perfection. How did they do this??

Driving the car is best described as a sensual experience. Tell it to go FAST and it thunders at the slightest touch to the accelerator. Roll the seat back and settle in to the open road with the ride quality of a Mercedes Benz S Class. This is a Motorcar that can do almost anything you want it to do. Throw your surfboard in the back or throw the kids in your 1955 “Grand Touring” Wagon and drive to the Grand Canyon on an Adventure Vacation. Who needs an SUV when you have this rig. Remember, this is a modern car from suspension to drive-train to modern driving conveniences such as power steering, power disc-brakes, power windows, power door locks, modern stereo and CD player and air conditioning. And, IT’S A HOT ROD TOO. This beauty has it all.

Over Two Years of hard work went into this project built by professional shops here in Southern CA. The plan was to build a 46 Convertible that was a practical street machine with all the modern goodies for cruising in traffic, with enough power to plant the driver right into the seat. Except for the ’47 style trim and modern suspension and front power discs and wonderful classic style modern gauges, it looks exactly like it did when it rolled off the assembly line.

Body/Paint

The original car was a very complete, very straight original body, original floors Southern car that was treated to a complete media blast of the body to strip out all old paint and imperfections. The car was then worked by a true Southern CA master of body and paint. Over 300 hours was spent in stripping, body reworking, blocking, prep, paint and color sanding to turn this into the absolute gorgeous bodywork masterpiece that it is. Take a look at the close tolerances on the close up pictures of the shut lines. All edges are finished to near perfection. The paint surface is deep, rich and completely mirror-finish flat. I can find no areas of weakness and no flaws anywhere in the body or paint work. With just a little over 2000 miles since completion I cannot find any scratches, dings or imperfections in the paint. Over $35K was spent in total for paint, body and plating on this fine concour quality restoration.
Top

The top is all brand new high-end cloth-style materials inside and out. The frame was completely stripped and looks like powder-coated to me. All rubber is brand new. The owner never has the top up and I put it up to take some pictures and probably took the pictures within minutes. It appears in the pictures to be slightly wrinkled, but I believe an hour or so in the sun and it would disappear. This is a high-quality top done to a very high standard. The window fit to the top is excellent and will keep out rain and wind. The power windows work wonderfully, up and down in seconds.

Undercarriage

Very original no rust frame that was completely stripped and painted red, then black (there is some small spots of red coming through). The undercarriage and floors were all original and did not need any reworking. The suspension is completely new from a 2007 Ford Thunderbird. The car has been driven since restoration and is not detailed to perfection, but is extremely clean and presentable and easily detailed if someone wants a more perfect appearance.

Drivetrain

The engine is a Crate 350 that was brand new and installed during the restoration. The transmission was also in like new condition when it was installed during the build. All brakes are like new. The electrical system was all brand new at the time of restoration. The car simply runs and cruises down the road like a brand new Mercedes Benz… with a nice little rumble.

Interior

All brand new Leatherette (I had to stick my nose in the seats because it looks and feels so much like real leather). Seats were completely rebuilt and have a nice firm feel to them, one of the most comfortable bench seats I have ever encountered. The dash is all new, with new gauges. A brand new AM/FM CD Stereo with front and rear speakers is neatly tucked in the glovebox and fills the cockpit with amazing surround sound with the top up or down.
The Dash is a unique blend of the original style trim with new modern SW gauges, in the old round style with modern numbering, letting you know this is not some old clunker, but a modern machine in sheep clothing.

Nothing was left to chance in this modern restomod, everything works like it should. It starts right up thanks to an electronic ignition and motors down the road with authority. It steers like a new car thanks to the Thunderbird suspension up front. It motors with authority due to its brand-new 350 crate motor with Edelbrock carb and fuel delivery. Ceramic coated headers add a nice hot rod look under the hood and Cherry Bomb mufflers are the perfect sound for this custom exhaust in this wonderful cruiser.

The hard work of building this beauty is over, the money is spent and the result is one amazing great-looking classic. If you have been looking for a professional build that features everything you want in a restomod, your search may be over.

you are donning a pair of Board Shorts or a Tuxedo, you will always feel just right in this once in a life-time Dream Machine.
